I'm not leaving - but I'm pretty worried about this one. They just showed some idiot down in Galveston saying he's not going - well fine, get the Darwin award but don't keep your kids from living!!! Stupid. People are getting a little nuts at the gas stations and grocery stores, as always, like it's the end of the world and not just a 3 day storm. But we have a lot of people down here who don't even speak English and don't understand what to do, and we still have a bunch of people from New Orleans who want to get away in case it's like Katrina, so we will have people leaving even though we've been told to shelter in place.
We live about 150 miles from the coast so the winds should slow down some by the time it gets to us, but this is a BIG storm and we always worry about tornadoes. The last time we had even a minimal hurricane was almost 20 years ago and most people don't know what to do.
Hubby said if we did have to evacuate we'd take his 4Runner and I said I won't leave my new baby!!!
I hope everyone is safe and stays that way. I'll check in over time and let y'all know what's going on. Hubby and me are going out for our weekly date tonight instead of tomorrow and we have to make a beer run. The main thing is I hope we don't lose power...No AC is NO FUN!!!

ROFL!!!! That's hilarious!
The computer models are putting it more to the east now...right over Galveston but that means it's also on a track that's east of 45...Better for us on the west side, worse for Beaumont...They just got Rita last year, I feel bad if it hits them again...
People were being so stupid about gas and groceries. But Spec's wasn't that crowded tonight... ??? What? No hurricane parties???
Aren't you pretty close to the coast down there?? Sure you can ride it out?

Were right on the outside edge of zone C. Flooding wise everything should be good, wind wise I'm skeptical about.
And cosign that comment about gas and groceries. I was dumbfounded whenever yesterday on Channel 2 news the reporters were telling people to go to the stores and get their supplies. For what? Everything is closed and gas stations are out of gas all the way up to Conroe; and if they do go they'll be stuck in a butt ton of traffic or the items they need will be sold out. The majority of folks have pretty much waited till the last minute to stock up on their supplies and they have known about the storm since at least Monday.

Hey whats up guys. Im in San Antonio, ive been here since Thursday. I-45 was jammed pack so we decided not to go. Besides my family made reservations to the Gran Hyatt here in Downtown San Antonio and got a good deal on it. I talked to Jason yesterday and he was gonna ride it out with his family in Deer Park. Clear lake where hes from got hit real bad, so luckly he dint stay there. Well were thinking of heading back tommorow if not well leave Thursday.
