Key fob dummy button?
#5
My 2016 doesn't have a "Hatch" release button, or any button that doesn't do something.
I'd be curious to see a picture.
Maybe Honda is planning to upgrade or has upgraded since 2016?
If you bought this new, the dealership should of explained the operation of all the buttons before you took possession.
I can't believe there would be a button with no purpose on the fob.

So are we confirming that new Honda Fits now have a hatch release button on the fob?
Because this would be something new.
Doesn't make too much sense IMO.
Since my hatch, can be released/opened from locked by just touching the handle--like the drivers door and passenger door.
So why would anyone want a fob to unlock the hatch? Unless it "popped" open, or automatically opened.
Otherwise why would you ever want to fish through you pocket, just to press a button on the fob, when you can always just walk up to it and open it, without pressing anything but the hatch itself?

I have a 2018 EX with the keyfob. Basically it just unlocks the hatch so someone could open it without needing the key on them. I can think of an example where this could be used. Say you are at an outdoor mall and you are having your kid run something back to the car you can unlock the hatch so they can open it... and then after they close the door everything re locks

If you have keyless you have to be within 5 ft of the hatch for it to open. So you could unlock it for someone else.
I use it when i pick up groceries. doors are locked with me inside. i press hatch button, kroger employee can open hatch, drop in my groceries, then when they close it it's locked.

Yeah, I believe with my 2016 EX keyless entry, you can unlock the hatch using the fob, you just use the door unlock button.
To be honest the scenario where I would even need or want to do this is so rare, as to be non-existent to me.
But that key fob with the obvious button marked for Hatch Release?
Almost makes me think that at some point Honda was thinking of upgrading the whole hatch release to be an "automatic" lift operation, but then decided to not do it.
Because otherwise, it is pretty much just an extra button in comparison to just the keyless entry.
