Anyone else getting pilling on their EX seat? This is my drivers seat, and at 18k miles, it's looking a little worn. If I get in the car wet, like 5 times, I put down two towels.
I'm 5'7" and 160 (okay, 165), but this is a bit worrying. I love the pattern and would hate getting covers. Any advice?
Cloth, fiber, friction...you're going to get wear, eventually.
Mine in less than year has yet to show any problem.
But it's all about acceptable levels of deterioration.
I assume if I keep the vehicle long enough....someday I may want seat covers.
Why hate them?
You can buy some that are vehicle specific, that are pretty much like having the seat re-upholstered.
Even the generic choices look pretty good IMO.
I'm living with mine "as is" as long as I can. If it starts to wear or look bad?
Seat Covers here I come.
Thanks everyone. It could be velcro. That's more likely than metal tabs that are on the other side of my pants. I'll bring it up to the dealer in June for my annual. I'll also post better photos when I can.
I don't hate covers per se, but I love the pattern in the EX and would hate to cover them. Maybe my Dad is playing a practical joke from heaven and saying: "See why I used to cover the car seats in plastic?". ;-)
I remember my parents would buy a new car then promptly cover the seats with those clear plastic seat covers, so we kids wouldn't wreck the pristine upholstery.

That's nothing.
My Grandparents..in the late 60's and 70's would order specific built vehicles from the factory. They were delivered with plastic over the vinyl on the side panels. They would leave the plastic, meant to be ripped off and removed on...to protect the vinyl underneath.
They drove upwards of a decade with more than one vehicle in this condition.

Back then, cars were made to last 3-5 years. Good idea, GM and Ford, no competitions, except the lowly Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth brands. Foreign cars were really foreign. Having perfect condition seats makes no sense. Yea, I remember those days. I suspect the materials used to fab the seats can't be as good as they are today.

Surviving the Great Depression left its mark on that generation.
My wife had the same issue on a car we had, it was caused by a little velcro strap on her jacket that ended up under her all the time when she got in the car..

I suspect that's the issue as most of my shorts have velcro pocket closures that I don't always close.
