TW: White Sport MT/Black Interior in SoCal
~~Car has been sold! Let's just say it's a good thing I didn't trade her into CMX.~~
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm thinking about getting something faster and wanted to find out what she's worth. Carmax offered me this nice written quote, but for $7000. I was hoping it's worth a little more than that.
Some details:
Thank you!

Carmax and dealers will lowball you. They are good for people who need the money IMMEDIATELY.
They offered me $29K for a car I was trying to sell.
I sold it privately for $32.5K
It took 2 weeks longer to sell, but for an extra 3.5K, I didn't mind.
If you're not in a hurry to sell, sell it privately on craigslist or Autotrader. You'll get more for your car.

Manual tranny, clean title and never been hit/accident/damaged.
Since I'm testing the waters, do you guys think $10,500 would fly?

I have been shopping for a Honda fit for the last month and the average range I have seen is 12K-10K depending on the milage.
I would pm you about buying the car but unfortunatley, I have to wait until my house closes. Hopefully that will be this month though. So, if you still have it next month, we can talk.

i just got mine a couple weeks ago..a little less mileage, all stock with hfp wheels. i paid $10700 otd from a dealer..i think i paid a little more than i should have. so maybe try shooting for 10k or obo?
i'd say just post it for 10.5k obo like you planned...if nobody wants it, then you can always lower the price gradually. either way, you're probably gonna have to be a bit patient cuz of the economy..

wait that makes zero sense^ ok you paid for yours 10.7k from a dealership take off 3k for private seller, 7.7 take off a couple hundred oh snap you're right around 7k.....but i was serious about my offer
#15
why does that make zero sense? and where did you get this idea that you take off 3k for private seller? i think his car is worth a bit more than mine, which is why i suggested listing it at around 10,500 OR BEST OFFER...and he can eventually lower the price if nobody wants it. i'm just saying, if you have patience, might as well just list it at a higher price to see if anybody is willing to pay that much. why not try to get as much money as you can for your car?
#16
ok 3k a bit much but seriously only 200 less than what a STEALERship charges
#17
Besides a lot of used cars dealers do sell their cars for around the same price as private sellers do. They just rip you off on the trade-in value.
#18
yeah i guess but personally i'd list it for 10 even lol
#19
yeah no i agree with you..actually i think the car might end up selling for between 9-10k..

Dealerships rape you on trade-in value and resell for around private party. If it's certified, they'll sell it for more. Why else do you get a trade in incentive for trading your old car for a new one? It's because they'll get your old car and be able to sell it at a profit from which you are trading in. They win most of the time.
