PRM Racing
PRM was founded in 1996 by Gerry Sica inventor of the patented in-line filter co-named Jet Stream Intake System. The award winning filter design received high acclaim at the 97 SEMA show and was featured in many performance magazines. Our in-line filters accomplish 3 fundamental duties in the performance arena.

* Cleans incoming air with free flowing washable cotton gauze media
* Draws ambient air safely with no worry about rain
* Straightens out air flow = more torque & hp.

1. Any dyno results for the A/T version?

2. Any reason why the A/T version wouldn't fit an M/T?

Just to clarify for those who are easily confused or have a hard time getting the point:

1. People should want to see some dyno proof before they rampantly purchase a product. Let's see the numbers. I'm advocating the consumer here.

2. Just because the MT won't fit the AT, are we to assume vice-a-versa? Keep in mind that it's a complete redesign with different pipe routing. If it's similar or better than the MT yet can fit an MT, it would solve alot of potential problems. And maybe save some cost.

Wow, I've never seen anyone shoot down legitimate questioning of a product before. And even so far as going into other vendor's threads to shoot down their products and benchrace how the product you have is better. I've seen brand loyalty but you take it to a whole 'nother level. Are you getting paid or are you just a tool?

I would like the vendor to provide some more details of their product.

Sometimes life gets in the way of even the most talented and capable people. Gerry does not have a big staff. I don't even know if he has any staff. He has to do everything himself, and only has limited access to any '09 Honda Fit. A mechanic friend of his at a local Honda dealer has been helping Gerry to get dimensional data on a '09 A/T Fit. No local A/T '09 Fit owner has come to Gerry's shop to help with measurements. A local M/T Fit owner WAS available to help. A/T and M/T have different heights in the engine bay. That's why the previous M/T version will not fit on the A/T. I know- I bought one for my A/T and it cannot work. I thought that it might be adaptable, but it's not.

Be patient- the delays are due to Gerry's efforts to make sure that the A/T and M/T intake systems are the best that they can be. With PRM, we, the buyers, are not doing the R&D for the manufacturer. The opposite was true for the '07 K&N SRI for the Fit.

Gerry now knows that the best place to put the inlet of his A/T system to collect cold air and avoid scavenging water is at the firewall, under the brake fluid reservoir, exactly like the stock intake. His system will eliminate the sharp bends and sound baffles of the stock system, and the Japanese "plastic toaster oven" systems--- the design flaws that cause restriction and slow down air flow.

I can only assume that the delay is due to the fabrication of mounting brackets that will work on both M/T and A/T Fit models. If you want more info, PM Gerry, but that will just delay further development.

If you think that this is easy, fabricate your own intake, and then make more and try to sell them. Good luck. I'll buy mine from Gerry any time.

Up-date

Hey Guy's,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, didn't want to post anything untill i had something for you, yes the R&Ding of the A/T kit was quite
difficult , i had to make 3 visits to the very cooperative Honda Dealer
in order to get it right, just got back from the 3rd and last visit, needed to make some more changes, there is no room for error here.

I took some install pics of the A/T kit.i'll have them for you tonight.
give me about 1 hour.

Sorry for the long wait!!

Gerry

Gerry-
Thank you for all of your work. Delay because of careful research is MUCH better than a rush job that produces a mistake.

here are pics of the prototype installed.
i'll have pics of the finished production piece for you
when they arrive.I knowi'm sorry, i should have them
in about 2 weeks, the 2 week syndromething!!
with that said i will have 20 kits available in two weeks for a group buy,
5 are already sold !!
sorry no dyno figures untill i find a local A/T customer.
i can't see the #'s being much different then the 1st M/T kit.
there shouldn't be more then a 1 or 2hp variation.

Thanks for the update. I agree with Manxman here. Willing to wait for the final version rather than an unpolished product.

Just curious, how's the install? Looks straight forward but hard to tell from the pictures.

piece of cake!!

Installation of the kit is relatively simple.

u start with removing the battery;remove both + - battery terminals,
loosen 10mm bolts on the battery strap down bracket & remove battery.
You may notice that your plastic battery cover (tray) has some water in it,this is true for the two 09 M/T cars we did, but not the dealer demo car.this is a rare honda miscue.with that said, it's a good idea to drill two holes on the bottom of the tray for water evacuation.

unclip & remove air sensor harness.

loosen the clamp at the throttle body & remove small hose clamp from pcv ( breather ) tube.
remove 10mm air filter box bracket bolt.
remove air box.you need to muscle it to the right & wiggle it out.

popping the intake on is a piece of cake

install instructions will come with the kit, no need for a mechanic here!!!

20 min. job!!

Again, this goes out to the guy's that have already paid & waiting quite some time know.
thanks for your patience & understanding.

Gerry

This is even easier than your kit for the '07 Fits. Take note, Californians. At smog check time, you will need to take this system out (that takes 1/2 the time required to install it) and put your stock system back in. You can only get a smog check with your stock system, unless your after-market intake has a CARB Exempt sticker. Maybe Gerry will have that sticker available five years from now, but if not, no sweat to swap the stock box back in.

I am really looking forward to getting my PRM intake delivered. Thanks for all of the extra work to get this thing perfect, Gerry!
