I bought a cheap set of floor mats to do that in another car. I used acorn nuts so the bolt tips wouldn't wear what they were over.

yah or if all fails try the huskey liners or weathertechs. they last a long time. oem carpet mats wear quickly, so do their rubber mats as i found in the past MT Fits.

Thats what I plan on doing, I would go weathertech like what kenchan said but I like the OEM GD Fit mats, so I wanna see if I can save them before the wear gets worse. But I understand OEM mats are always so much softer and wear faster.

yah, im not much of a fan of rubber mats (or floor liners) like weathertechs and husky either. i use them in my dd out of laziness, but much prefer the carpet mats too. carpet mats just look nicer. i use weathertechs in my fun cars in the winter time mainly to prevent salt stains on my carpet mats.
