sounds like fun, alco. :) yah, if you search paddle shifter extensions for MK7 GTI you will see a bunch of different extensions available.
for DSG, that alone made the car more fun to drive. it's kinda like how you'd appreciate different shift knobs on MT cars.

Took this photo on Sunday of the 2018 GTI SE on my Dealer's lot, 6-Speed stick, Jacky Plaid and all. This is the new Great Falls Green Metallic, which looks quite blue in this picture taken on an overcast day. I'd have this color on my list of potentials if I were a Buyer. I think that the SE and Autobahn headlights sport the continuation of the grille's red line which is kind of cool. The SE and Autobahn also have keyless entry, a feature which I have grown to love on our Wolfsburg.

In addition to the front....huge improvement in wheels to me as well. I really don't like the previous GTI wheels, but those are fine. I'd roll them and be happy.
That color is awesome! Not sure the wife would go for it, but I sure like it! Kind of lightens up the serious German look to me. Our black Golf looks a bit too serious for a playful hatch to me.

i hear there are a bunch of MK7.5 Golf-R’s at the US port but can’t be released to the dealers for some reason. wonder if it has to do with emissions or something.
those wheels looks about the same to the ones that are stacked up in my basement.. i’m neutral on that front but never was a fan of directional spoke wheels..

These are the wheels that I'm not a big fan of...
VW is bound to be one scandal away from not being sold in the US. Hope they stop doing stupid things!
On that note, we just got back from another trip in our Golf. It continues to be great on the highway and performs admirably, but...
I'm greatly irritated by the lies being told by the entire instrument cluster. The fuel mileage calculation is off to a hilarious amount (read 39.5 this trip vs actual 33), the speedo is off by several miles per hour (gps verified), the tachometer is not possibly correct based on rpm/speed/gear calculations, and the temperature gauge goes from dead cold to full operating temp in a split second meaning it's not accurate either.
Maybe I've just gotten spoiled by domestics that give you semi real information, but I do not like being lied to. Seems to be a standard VW policy though. Wonder if you get correct readings in Audi's or Porsches?

oh yah.. those are ugly. lol. but that’s a mk6. one of the top guys at work also has a mk6 GTI as dd but it has different factory wheels which actually look real good on the car.
my GTI’s obc mpg is right on with the actual miles vs gallons calculation i’ve done. crappy 25-26mpg combined..!

I like the '18 wheels better. The open area is more uniform and the charcoal instead of black is a nice look to me.
All just personal preference of course. You are right though that they aren't drastically different.

do ya? they are all too small and narrow for me. the brushed finish kinda makes up for the small size, but 19's are definitely the way to go. especially when those factory 18's are 25lbs and my 19's are 20-21lbs each.
but for factory wheels they look okay.

Oh, I'm a fan of those. Nice! Looking at the 2018's on the U.S. VW site, I see that the S comes with 18" Austin wheels, and the SE and Autobahn come with 18" Dallas wheels. I'll bet there are other VW factory wheels that can be optioned. All kind of confusing.

alco- ahh, the ones that came with my GTI is called Austin. i think that 2018 looks real good as it is.
im not a fan of the Rotary wheels.. the spokes are too short for 18's. if that kind of design, id go for the OZ superturismo LM's in 19's, but they are kinda heavy.
i run ultraleggara 19x8.5's on my GTI with VWR springs. so nice. in the winter time i have the allegeritas in 18x7.5's running narrow 225's which is wat is on my car right now. they are both HLT series and lightweight. allegeritas are like 17lbs. both matte gunmetal color. i bought my sets from tirerack.

Matching the wheel names with Internet images is difficult; I think some of the images are mislabeled and when I enter Austin VW Wheels or Dallas VW Wheels, you can guess the search result -- VW Dealers in TX! Reminiscent of Blaupunkt, which also names their car stereo models after cities, including Austin, Dallas and Detroit. Must be a German thing ......
