I came from a 2004 6 sp TSX. I wanted better payments and more practicality. I see my TSX sitting at Carmax everyday on the way home from work and I don't miss it at all. I love my Fit.

I just sold my 2005 TL Aspec (awesome car) and I'm now officially car-less :) My Fiancee get's the fun of driving me around until I finish my perfectionist-induced car shopping...

I'll probably end up getting a circa-2000 Civic or maybe even a new Fit if I decide to splurge a bit :p

2006 nissan xterra off-road package to an 07 base fit. not a downgrade at all seeing as:

1: in 3 months, the xterra went through two motors and eight catalytic converters (can you say LEMON?) all while getting 8-12 mpg.

2: my job pays me 50 cents per mile to drive to and from work (currently spending 10 cents per mile with the fit). that means for every mile i drive, i make 40 cents. not bad at all.

3: did i mention that i'm saving a HUGE amount of money on gas?

I'm downgrading from a 2000 Miata as soon as My Fit arrives. I just need something to haul my mountainbikes around in and the Miata isn't.

Would going from a '95 DB8 to a fit be considered a downgrade? Would it be considered a downgrade if I keep the DB8?

06 Audi A3 to the Fit. To quote Rodney Dangerfield "that car had more miles going up and down the lift than going down the road!"

Loved the A3, loved my TT before it but the constant car stopping glitches get tiresome.
Before I had the money to burn, I always drove Honda's, my crx and civic si both did over 150,000 miles with nothing more than standard maintenance. Well ok, my crx did get a new muffler at 15k under warranty!

I hope nothing has changed in this respect cause I am really enjoying this car! Very fun to drive and darn practical.

"Downgrade?" No, just a more practical tool.

Live smart!

Previous car was a 2003 Nissan Xterra SE-S/C:

Supercharged Nissan engine required premium fuel(currently $2.69/gallon) and gulped it down at around 13-15mpg. My daily commute is 120 miles a day 5 days a week. I was filling up every other day! Monthly payment was also over $550.00/month not including car insurance! While I loved my truck I was going broke just going to and from work.

Enter my 2007 Fit Sport A/T

1.5L engine will take regular unleaded(currently $2.45/gallon), gets about 38mpg and my monthly car payment dropped about $200.00 month!

I dont know if it would be considered a downgrade but I got rid of my 05 Mitsu Evolution VIII RS. Something broke on that thing every week it felt like, it was fun and fast but I almost get the same thrills with my new reliable Fit but with no engineering problems. I kinda feel I am upgrading cause the RS model doesn't have power windows or locks, not even a radio, pure performance and pure amenity frustration.

Well, I currently own a 06 Civic Si. I really, really wanted the Si before I got it. After taking delivery I fell in love with the new style Gauges, the Navi with memory card slot for music, the seats, the 6spd, that beautiful K20. Let me tell you, I have driven a lot of cars, faster cars, but there's no engine I have driven that feels better then a K20 screaming it's way to it's 8k redline. Especially how the intake on the Si is designed, which makes the Vtec sound a lot meaner then in a RSX Type S.
The only thing about the Si that I simply hate are the pedals and the brakes. To elaborate a little. When I first saw the Si's pedals they looked awesome. A set of aluminum pedals, with a race inspired floor gas pedal. Looks awesome. But apparently this makes the Si very difficult to heal and toe shift. The brakes don't help in this situation either. Most cars you press on the brakes softly and the car starts to slow down, and if you slam them the car bites the asphalt to a stop. On the Si, as soon as you press on the gas more then 1/4 of the way down, no exageration, they glue themselves to the road very violently.
Both these things make it almost impossible to heal and toe the car. It sounds stupid, but once you have been driving stick for many years, heal and toeing your to work and back, not having the ability to do so is a real pain. Especially for me. I haven't taken the car to the track or modded it because of that.
I have read that the Fit has a perfect set up for heal and toe shifting. If this is true along with the better gas mileage, more room, extra pair of doors, and just simple cuteness I might be switching from the new Si to a Fit. I have to admit when I'm driving and I feel the K20 pulling I don't want to do it. But after hearing of a K20 swap for a Fit, that really got me excited. Fit+K20+LSD+Suspension+Recaros+Navi= to a dream car to me.

By the way...........sorry for the long read. I got a little excited.

I traded in my 2004 honda accord sedan for my fit. It had a k24 in it and was a five speed. I had a full body kit on it and changed the headlights and taillights. Also had 20% tint all around. It had typical bolt ons I/H/E. It was a very cool car but wouldn't trade it back for my fit. I love my fit.

'97 Civic HXCoupe/B18C -> '07 Fit Sport MT

My 97 Civic HX was probably the best car I've ever owned, starting with the CVT coolness at first, then with GSR power in the second half of its life with me. I bought the Fit in May 06 and sold the Civic a month afterward. I only drove the Civic once or twice after I started driving the Fit and it seemed heavy and sluggish, even though the motor was a monster. Don't get me wrong, I got all misty laying a big black strip at an on-ramp on that drive, but the Fit seems like it's carved out of a solid block of steel, and light as a feather compared to the HX. And the HX had new struts and motor mounts all 'round. It was as solid as it ever had been.

I've got 28K miles on the Fit now (I drive lunch deliveries when I'm not doing concert sound in other states) and just bought my first set of new tires. I think once I hit 100K (in two years) I'll do a K20 swap or maybe an R18 if it can be done cheaper.

Not sorry at all that I got the Fit. My only complaint is... no dead pedal.

My previous cars :( The ol SRT-4! Evolution revolution!

The SRT-4 left in 2005. The Evo left last Saturday. I really needed lower car payments, a change in jobs, and a lot of other things made me decide on this car. But it is actually really fun to drive.

Traded in the Honda Hummer Lite...'06 Honda Element for our SSM Fit sport AT. needed lower payments for sure, and better gas mileage. no complaints on trading in the E, the Fit is truly FUN to drive!!! See, with the Fit, you feel like you can take any turn at 70mph! Uhhh...not so much in the E:D

I came from an 01 Honda S2000 with AEM V1 CAI, Tein S-techs, 04 rims, 04 soft top, 4.77 gears, and alot of other stuff.

I traded it in yesterday for my07 silverstorm AT fit. my payments went down by more than half, and my gas mileage is improving by 12mpg and I don't have to use premium. plus i'll be able to bring passengers with me ftw

All I can tell you is that out of every car I had owned in my life, I like the fit the best. It can be used for so many different things. Its got some pep to it. It handles great. Its good on gas. But most of all it's fun as shit to drive. Now Its not gona have the balls of a G35 but, with the right mods it could. But remember the fit is a very light car. Now I have some mods done to my fit and it makes a big difference. I think the fits handling is excellent. Anyway you can't go wrong with a honda their all great cars. I think once you take one for a ride if possible, it will be easier to make a desision. Good luck man. Hope to hear about your new fit soon.

haha, this could go either way depending on how you look at it...

current vehicle: 2004 VW R32 with 66k miles.

well, i went to go look at a white mt sport fit today, and my vw decided to melt the fuse panel on top of the battery. of course, me being a vw tech know this is a common problem, but the car won't run without continuity, so i just ran wires on the side of the highway to complete the connection...total ratjob, but it doesn't matter.

drove the civic si, fell in love...but it still felt like a pig compared to the fit. saw the fit, it had 4 miles on it (eeeeeee), i immediately plunked down $1000 to hold it, and after hearing that they would not take my trade due to excessive miles (admit it, it's a vw, you can say it's trash...won't hurt my feelings much), i went right to my work, wherein the sales manager bought my car on the spot for $15,400. i only owed $9k on the r32, i was hoping to try and pull 18 out of it, but $15.4 is good too.

i pick up the check tomorrow for the money i made off the R32, and then if all goes well, i'll have my fit by 4pm tomorrow!

i say it's an upgrade, others might say downgrade. i still regret selling my DC2-R 3 years ago...the best car i ever owned right there.

Need for speed

Anyway, money isn't an issue seeing as how the Accord and Formy are both paid off.

Back in 2001 I picked up a '01 Civic EX Coupe 5spd as my daily (Civy webpage). In '02 I picked up the Formy.

Putted around and beat the ever living snot out of the Civy and loved it. If I wanted real speed I'd hop in the Formy.

Well come December 2005 I was ready for a change w/ the Civy. Wanted to get into an auto cause I was sick of rowing gears and also wanted something more pratical.. ie. 4 doors. Hence I got the Accord. (Links to pics in sig)

Now I like the Accord and all.. but MEH is it BORING!!! I've got a 40mile round trip to work, so I'm stuck in the car for an hour every day. Miss the days of thrashin in the Civy.

Anyways.. I dunno what it is but this litte Fit bugger is growing on me. Looked in the MZ3 sedan but meh.. it's just a slightly smaller version of what I already have... plus if you deck it out it's ~22k! Same for the latest Civy Sedan. Oh and I've never owned a hatch (I think the MZ3 Hatch is too big), so that'll be a nice change I'm hopin.

Sooooooo has anyone 'downgraded' their daily driver to a Fit? I know I'll be going back to rowing gears... but meh.. oh well.. I think I could over come it. Plus 95% of my work drive is highway anyways, not stop-n-go.
Yep! I got my Fit last year. Great Car. But when I need speed: i get in my Accord Coupe V6 and it goes!
