2014 Honda Accord Hybrid revealed

Goes on sale later this year

Honda has officially unveiled the 2014 Accord Hybrid, following a preview earlier this month.
Looking far more attractive than its plug-in hybrid counterpart, the Accord Hybrid has a restrained exterior with blue accents, LED daytime running lights and unique alloy wheels. The model is also equipped with a rear spoiler and hybrid badging.
Interior changes are limited but the car has a unique display which enables owners to see their instant fuel economy and the status of the hybrid system. The model can also be equipped with perforated leather seats, an 8-inch i-MID display and a multi-angle rearview camera.
Motivation is provided by a two-motor hybrid system which consists of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine and a 166 bhp (124 kW) electric motor. It should enable the model to return a class-leading fuel economy rating of 49 mpg city / 45 mpg highway / 47 mpg combined (US).
The 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid will go on sale in the United States in October and pricing will be announced closer to launch

I was wondering when they were going to reissue the Accord hybrid. Apparently US sales of the original were dismal compared to projections, so it's nice to see the company bringing it back.

The first Hybrid was a lot different. It had a V6, the Chinese-market one, so with the electric motor power added, it was the "performance" Accord. There was no market for an expensive, non-luxury-brand, performance hybrid at the time. Oops.

This one is geared more towards fuel economy. Should be no slouch, though - if that's really 166hp from the electrics alone as stated. I imagine this will be relatively expensive, but quite good.
