Honda to field ten models at Pikes Peak Hill Climb
Everything from an ATV to a first-generation Acura NSX
Honda has announced plans to field ten different models in nine different classes at this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
The ambitious program will include vehicles such as the Acura NSX (first-generation), Acura TL SH-AWD, Honda CR-Z and Honda Fit EV. The company will also enter several different motorcycles including the Honda CRF250R, CRF450R, CBR1000RR and CBR600RR. Keith Steidl will also race a TRX450 in the 450 ATV class.
The mysterious tenth model will be driven by Simon Pagenaud and revealed closer to the June 30th race.
According to Mike Accavitti, Senior Vice President of Automotive Operations for American Honda, "Pikes Peak presents us with a unique opportunity to showcase Honda's diverse product lineup and to energize Honda fans around world, as we work to further strengthen Honda's presence in racing at all levels."

They will also give us a great demonstration of its range while under full driving stress. It will also let us know how the brakes hold up from the extra weight, as I would imagine the EV is heavier then the hybrid setup
EVs require a lot of amperage storage. Even if honda were to run over 288 volt systems, it would still require storage of several thousand amps to last the entire race

Doesn't the hill climb take like 10 minutes? Surely even the EV can go flat out for that long.
And recapture 60% of that on the way back down yes? :)
Glad to see Honda racing SOMETHING. I wish they'd do rallying... F1 is too highbrow and expensive, and you can't apply much of that in the consumer market anyway.

Most electric motors increase amperage instead of voltage when being used more.
EDIT I should have said commercial. Many small electric motors will run on variable voltage, not amperage. Just clearing that up
More amperage load can sometimes lead to less overall voltage under use if charging system cannot keep up.
Like I said it would prove to the world what kind of system honda has. If it is 100% factory electric-wise it would be a huge publicity increase for them and lead to better sales. and when honda has more profits they come out with even better cars for similar prices. Honda is great for this aspect!

Turbocharged Honda Odyssey minivan headed to Pikes Peak
Will be driven by IndyCar racer Simon Pagenaud
Honda's mysterious entry for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has been revealed and it's something we would have never expected - an Odyssey minivan.
Set to be driven by IndyCar racer Simon Pagenaud, the minivan was created by Honda Manufacturing of Alabama and will compete in the Exhibition class.
Given its racing ambitions, the model was equipped with a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that develops 532 bhp (397 kW) and 460 ft-lb (623 Nm) of torque. It will send power to the ground via a six-speed transmission and a limited-slip differential sourced from an Acura TL.
The minivan has also been equipped with a sport-tuned suspension, high-performance brakes and 19-inch BBS wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. There's also a stripped out interior with race seats, a sport steering wheel and a full roll cage.
According to Pagenaud, "A Honda Odyssey with power similar to an IndyCar will raise some eyebrows for sure! But with the preparation it is getting from Team Honda Research, it will be a proper race car, and I’m very excited about it."

I read about this a few days ago...
conflicting info though
Honda turns Odyssey minivan into 500-hp mountain climber | Motoramic - Yahoo! Autos
Looks like RPF's...
conflicting info though
The Odyssey also gets a few race bits — RPF1 wheels, upgraded Brembo brakes, competition springs and the limited-slip differential from the Acura TL — but in most respects appears as if it could still haul the kids to the gelato place if they can fit around the roll cage.

thought you might be interested in the first gen NSX with modern day LED headlights, this is what is on the top of the line accord for 2013 they are like the LED's in a flashlight except they are about 1.5"inch across and they line up three of them, i'd imagine we'll start seeing these in the near future on many models (not just hondas)
and another fit pic
