2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel rated at 46 mpg highway

Offers the best highway fuel efficiency of any non-hybrid passenger car

Chevrolet has announced the 2014 Cruze Diesel will have the best highway fuel economy of any non-hybrid passenger car in America.
By returning an EPA-estimated 46 mpg highway, Chevrolet says owners can travel up to 700 miles (1,126 km) on a single tank of fuel. According to the car's chief engineer, Gary Altman, "The Cruze Diesel is the best diesel passenger car out there. Chevrolet is redefining the meaning of great fuel economy with this car.”
As we have previously reported, the Cruze Diesel has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 148 bhp (110 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque - 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) with overboost. It enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 8.6 seconds.
The Cruze Diesel will go on sale later this year and U.S. pricing starts at $25,695 which includes an $810 destination charge.

Price seems a little hefty since you can get a manual VW Sportwagen TDI with a M/T for about the same price.

I think I would rather have a TDI...Cant really say you look cool in your dropped Cruze. lol

Hopefully this will motivate Honda/Toyota/Subaru to bring us some oil burners.

The VW looks better and since it is based on the old Jetta more upscale. Previous model.

VW could take over if they could find a way to fix their reliability issues.
