Yeah proper break in will make your powerplant last... But it won't do anything for the lamps and ECU! I would forget about the first couple years of production for the bugs to be worked out.. As for the parts prices... Stay with your Honda then! :) A nice used S2000 should be more reliable\fun...

A new OEM fender/headlight won't be cheap for a Fit either. A new side skirt alone is $500 each.

true enough about the parts. Someone backed into my drivers door so they replaced it with one from a wrecker. Sprayed a fresh coat of paint on it and it was $2,200.

And I agree that the break in is critical to making your motor last. But there's still no proven facts what's better. Break in hard or following the manual. I followed the manual for my Fit and have had no problems what so ever in the 89,000 miles I've driven. It's also a Honda.

I was thinking about a used S2k, but it's hard finding a nice one up here that's been babied and it's not practical for me. Having rear folding seats is a must.

FRS/BRZ > S2k.

Similar laptimes with 40 less bhp.

Yeah but it really depends on the track. On a tight track im sure it the GT86 can keep up but put it on anything with a straight away and higher powered cars like the s2k are gonna walk away. Think of what a completely redesigned s2000 with a direct injected motor could do.

Think of what it would cost.

More than double what your Fit cost, and it would still be quite slow.

i don't think so. The GT86 and the S2000 isn't really in the same price bracket. A new s2000 would have to be competitive with the 370z.

A new S2k would not start any lower than 35k.

That is stupid when I can get the BRZ/FRS/Focus ST/WRX/ 400+ hp Mustang GT/etc. for much less money.

Stop worshipping at Honda's alter. They have done nothing good since about 2003.

There's no such thing as 'being due' in the car industry. It requires an investment that Honda doesn't seem willing to make anymore.

So basically your saying Honda's line up is just like Toyota's was before the GT86 huh. Yeah im sure that Honda will let Toyota/Subaru dominate that sector of the market. They don't care about making money....lol

Subaru did about 99% of the work on the BRZ/FRS. Toyota had also built a little thing known as the ISF and LFA. Continued to build the best luxo-barge on the planet (LS460), the best hybrid, etc.

On the other hand, in the last decade Honda has:
-Made the Civic an ugly, slow bloated POS.
-Made the Fit a worse enthusiast's car for its 2nd generation
-Built the Crosstour, Ridgeline and Pilot; all failures.
-Built the also-ran hybrid known as the Insight and the joke that is the CR-Z.
-Turned the Accord and Odyssey from sensible cars you buy if you have a pulse into the same boring vehicles as their competitors.
-Built the worst attempts at luxury cars in recent memory. Even Hyundai better understands how to build a luxury car (Genesis v. RL)

Personally I think its just complacency on Honda's part. They seem to be getting a little better though. The new accord looks nice.

lol yeah that thing is terrible. Maybe Honda doesn't care as much as Toyota. They have alot going on....honda Jet, Motorcycles, atv, lawn mowers, and small engines ( I think Honda's the biggest small engine manufacture in the world.)
