trade in fit for new civic si!
hey guys i have a 2010 honda fit with 21k on her black, minimal chips on the bumper and interior in good condition, needs a detail. anyway i love my fit and would love to help pioneer a new market for us, but my need for instant gratification has overwhelmed me. thinking about either a 2011 or 2012 civic si. im not a huge fan of the new one but i drove one and it was pretty nice. body style turns me off somewhat. i know with some mods she will be fine... need opinions let me know what yall think. if i wont get shafted should i do it? i wanna come out even on this. ohh and i only owe 13k on my car

We have one more year of this Obamanation to the economy and if your a smart gratifier don't put yourself in anymore dept that you have to. Keep what ya got put a turbo on it ( DSM ) 230hp it's way less expensive than a 6yr note. It will keep ya white knuckled and smiling!!

only?
the car costs less than 20k.
Political snobbery aside, if you owe more than half your car, you are in no position to pioneer anything.
Instant gratification is infinitely sweeter, knowing it won't come back to bite you in the ass.
Pay off your car, keep good care of it... and if you're lucky, once it's paid off, the market will still have high demand/low supply of Fits. You can then do a private sale of the car getting as much as you paid (or more, again, if you're lucky)... then you can get your SI.
Alternatively, any turbo/supercharger project is only going to be a money pit. Once the car is paid off, you can then budget the same amount (or less) for a turbo project. Spending money now, means you have less funds to deal with whatever issues may come up.

What exactly do you mean by even? You shouldn't be underwater, but you'll likely come out without much to put towards a new car, after the payoff on the current car. If even means nothing out of pocket to get out of your current loan, then yes, it should be possible.
If you want to come out recovering every dollar you've put into the Fit so far, good luck finding someone gullible enough to sell the car to, that just ain't happening. If you're looking to trade-in, you'll get top dollar for a car in stock condition... the dealer can easily sell those as certified reused, but extensive mods will net you less from a trade-in. Still expect a loss either way, for money spent thus far.
Sounds like you shouldn't be throwing any more money into a car you don't even own currently, or take on that much more of a loan burden by switching to another. No turbo Fit, no Si... work on paying off the car first, then decide what comes next. No offense meant, instant gratification is always fun, until you spend the next couple of years paying for it and feeling the pinch... not sure of your financial position if you have a lot of cash on the side to spare, then go for it.

As much as I appreciate the lesson in financial stability.. and I do... I was asking if people would trade in the fit.. financially I'm stable and can afford to spend little more.. of course stock is what I would trade it back as... anyway would people make the transition? Thanks to those who have replied so far.. its much appreciated.

YES!!! I did... no regrets, the trade-in on the Fit is pretty good right now... but you've got to decide what you want, there's likely only a few new 8th gen Si left on lots if any, and the 9th is pretty hard to get depending on your color choice/navi.
The 9th is a big unknown for mods though - given the engine design with integrated header, the 8th is totally developed as far as mods availability. Went for the 9th here which is more a baby TSX vs. the 8th which is the edgier ride from what I've heard. Got the 9th sedan/navi, love the looks in real life, not as crazy with the coupe's appearance myself. The i-MID/navi integration is really nice.

I traded in my Fit for a 2010 Si and I have absolutely zero regrets aside from the handy utility features of the Fit. My personal opinion (probably means nothing to you) get a 2011. I prefer the K20 to the K24 because the K20 feels more "free revving" to me. The 2012 interior disappoints me compared to the previous generation. Feels cheap and seems like it would easily scratch. The i-MID system seems "gimmicky" to me and just really doesn't appeal to me. I don't really care about navi or electronic interface personally. Just my quick comparison.
EDIT: also I'm not ragging on anybody for getting a 9th gen. It's just not for me...

if ugly doesn't bother you since the new SI's are pretty ugly as you stated, how about get a Mazdaspeed3? that would do circles around the civic SI without trying. and the MS3's been around a few years so bugs are probably worked out.
how about a GTI? used R32? etc.
GL! :)
