Fit is not a race car

Okay! You can buy CAI, headers, CAT Back Performance Exhausts, it still is not a race car. It's an economy car that looks good and handles okay. Gas mileage is OK.

Spoon made that race car because they believe it was a good platform to start with. They could have chosen another platform if they wanted.

All race cars cost a lot of money. Racing costs a lot of money.

I want to see a Lada (nothing comes harder than a Lada) race car that the right amount of money can make it a race car.

you should check the video with Tsuchiya and Hittori testing out the spoon fit around the track on google videos.

Older civics did not come stock as a race car and yet they dominate the race tracks now. It's only a matter of time before this car really shines. Just wait for those k-swaps to come...

You don't have to spend a lot of money. Just do what people do to their civics. Engine swap, suspension, stripped interior etc.

Thanks for the heads up Captain Obvious!

That's still not going to stop people from trying. Have you checked out ESPN2 lately? I've seen guys racing around in modded out lawn tractors and race prepped diesel Mack trucks! Those aren't race cars either...

RACE car NOW, honestly (it's not from the factory) BUt like Blackgd3 said, in some time and with some money (like any other racing project) this is a GREAT starting platform for Honda Performance due to power to weight ratio, chasis makeup, suspension setup (although that will have to be changed for all out auto x'in)

The Honda Fit will be the Next Civic Hatch, you'll see!!!

All racecars are expensive. If not the car itself, then it's the supporting cost that associated with it... tow vehicle, trailer, logging, food, gas, tires, spare parts, blah blah blah

I saw the video of the Spoon Fit. Sure they made it race worthy but still lacked power and took a lot of money. Our standard Fit is an economy car. Even if you do the simple bolt-ons, it still won't be a race car, just an economy car with bolt-ons. :) I'm not sure where people were saying the Fit was a race car to get this original post started.

Sure.. its not race car... but it does handle quite well and like a lot of people have pointed out, it has a very good chassis to start with. There was a video explaining the design of the Fit's chassis. Its quite interesting!

Also, from Car and Driver, "the Fit sailed through our lane-change test 6 mph faster than anything else here — faster, in fact, than a Corvette Z06" I think that means something. I don't care what kind of performance test, but for an entry level car beating a corvette ZO6? Gotta respect that!

Just my $.02

in my opinion the term race car is to much for the FIT...yeah its economy, but honda. It is a tunable car from coilovers, I. H. E., and even turbo kits...after doing these things it will not be so economical. I like the FIT for that...gives us economical guys something to beat up:D

The Russians had them, these, Volga and Moskovitch. "Factory" sponsored rally cars of the 1960s and 1970s.

And for road racing...you might want to "Czech" out this link:

There is someone on this board in Kentucky that stated they entered a rally with an Automatic Fit, so anything is possible?
