Fit vs Ford Focus

Today we will put the Focus up aginst the Fit and see how it get destoryed.. :D

The Focus has been around for a few years now and with the upcoming 07' Model which sports some agressive styling and 'apperance package' you can get em off the line lookin pretty cool! Along with a SVT model that stopped production people are already out on the streets with a 2.0L supercharged Stocker.. So they have quite a range of intrests for the car, how do you think it will stand aginst our Fits with the magic seats so we can do our magic in em.. hehe

Check out the Focus here

I would say if you're interested in a Focus best to wait until they bring the new version out. Europe's already got it and the ST trim $hits on any Focus here. http://www.ford.co.uk:80/safari/foc_...oc_st/-/-/-/-#

Actually looks pretty good. The interior reminds me a little of the Fit. Knowing how everything else works, some US law will make the bumper need to be changed, or they'll have to use some 90 horspower engine to get the fuel economy up for the 2007 epa tests or something. I'd buy one if they made a SVT version that could outperform the Fit.

The European ST version is pretty much our SVT and on paper at least it outperforms the Fit by a mile -- 2.5L 225hp Turbo 5-cylinder w/ 6sp MT, 18" alloys w/ 225/40R18's, F/R disc brakes, Recaro seats, HID's, & 3062lbs. It's more like a WRX than a Fit. If it's as reliable as a Fit we may have a winner.

I didn't see any SVT in the link you provided. I think they did away with the SVT a couple of years ago and now only offer a watered down "ST" with the Mazda 3 engine.

At around $20,000 each, Ford loses around 5000 dollars for every Focus they sell here in the US. However, the Focus is profitable in the EU countries because they sell it for a lot more. About $35,000-$40,000 in US dollars. Unless we are willing to pay that much for a EU Focus, they will not bring the EU Focus here.

The US will, however, get the same body style, but same old (maybe slightly updated) motor and drivetrain as the previous generation Focus.

Europe always gets the cool cars! The Fiesta ST is pretty nice too for a smaller car. Also, the new S-Max is quite interesting. It's unfortunate they won't be bringing any of those over here. But we do get the Mustang Shelby GT500 :D

Actually, Ford is working with Mazda on the 3rd-generation Focus, which will likely come out in the USA first (probably in calendar year 2008 as a 2009 model). This new Focus model will again be a single worldwide model.

i own an svt focus and a fit. To be honest the fit needs motor swap before you compare their performance. the reason i say this is the fit is easier to drive and i dont get as much understeer but i am not sure if this is due to the lack of weight/power. The regular focus also has quite a few turbo kits out now. I am really interested to see the power adders that come out for the fit.

summary: the svt focus has more power but with an ff drivetrain it makes the car a bit unstable. the fit is really easy to drive at the limit and has the potential to blow the focus away. we just have to wait and see how expensive the k20 swap is. (right now the motor is too rich for my blood)
