Word. I owned a Saab, once (see pic above). It was fun because of how odd it was; freewheel, 4speed on the column, lever shocks, etc. But it broke a lot, and parts prices were ridiculous. Subsequent Saabs owned by friends convinced me that they had not learned any lessons, and I never considered buying another one. Well, maybe a 92X ;)
Back on topic. I don't know a lot about ITR but it is obviously less practical for a family. I personally find the Fit to be an absolute hoot to drive. By a used 5MT, get a second set of wheels with some hot tires for race day, and revel in the brilliance of your decision.
The WRX wagon would work well too, in the same dual capacity. But it will cost a bit more to own and run.

I actually plan on getting a set of spare wheels/tires for track fun too :) I just need my car to come in first lol

I don't see the problem with high mileage cars if they're maintained properly. ;) I'm glad someone is driving and enjoying the fine piece of machinery that is the Type R :)

No joke! If you want a collectors item, buy a Ferrari (they break down all the time anyway). But to own a true/reliable masterpiece, and not drive it is just silly. I've met several NSX guys who think their exotic should only see the open road one day a month... WAKE UP, it's a freaking Honda! It's built to be driven, they like that sort of thing.

Of course I'm not saying don't drive it tho, I bought mine with 16k and had it on the track before even hitting 21k. After 2 years I just hit 32k and of course on the way home from another track event.

First off, your work is amazing. I follow your threads all the time on tekh. So don't take this as hate...
But I never said it's "just" a Honda. I can truly appreciate the hand built engine as it revs through the stratosphere, and the solid rear chassis as I approach the apex... But had I met you when you first picked heR up two years ago, and never experienced a track day to date, I would have to smack you. Unfortunately, there are people out there that have this mindset. Thankfully, you've put 16+ thousand miles with several (I'm guessing, maybe more) track days included.
My point is, it's built to be driven.

This is true. My Grandma has an 02' Altima with 2,500 miles. She spent almost a grand getting it back on the road. And it still just sits in the garage, collecting dust.
