So much for the CR-Z
#41
It's kind of weird how this thread has strayed to "turbo lag" which I understand is all about, especially after driving a Mercedes S-Class turbo diesel. This got me to thinking how I really wouldn't want the CRZ with a turbo anyhow. It wouldn't be a bad idea for Honda to offer one for those who have no real issue with the extra cost. What I'd really like though is a modern iteration of the CRX, and in the case of the CRZ, Honda just changed the original game plan too much and came out with a car that is less desirable to me. That's not to say I don't like it, it just doesn't hit me like the original CRX did though. And from many of the other opinions I've seen on the internet, it appears others feel the same way too. displays an example of what might have gone wrong with the CRZ philosophy.

lag has never been an issue at track engine speeds for me.
i just have a hard time believing that you really prefer 200hp just bc it came form a NA motor over 400hp just bc it came from something FI. sure, turbo motors have a particular rpm at which they wake, but you should never be below that range anyway if you're doing something exciting or something that requires real throttle work. "best" can mean a lot of things, so i won't go on about how we disagree about what's important.
i understand though that driving slow cars at their limit and outclassing a driver in a superior car is satisfying. we can probably swap stories about that. but, as much as i love inital d, initial d is to driving cars fast as what the WWF is to the world of martial arts/fighting/wrestling.
warranties? i probably gave mitsu and honda 5 reasons a piece to void my warrantee within 100 miles of buying the car.

a rotrex i think would be cool on a CRZ... only time will tell what will and wont work for this car. And who knows it could be a piece of Sh!t were all just bench racing and talking about tech specs lol.

as for turbos not being as quick as a tuned na motor, completely incorrect.
we gotta start our own thread.

You guys might want to read this:

Review's pretty favorable. It looks like it's a good sportster, Honda just so happened to make it a hybrid.

A slight disclaimer: The UK uses the Imperial gallon - quite a bit larger than the US gallon. Don't read into the fuel economy figures too deeply just yet. :)

I have to admit the mugen/aftermarket pics above look amazing.
I am disappointed in the mpg and 0-60. I don't see a big enough difference to opt for the $6K difference in my Fit Sport.

Now if they come out with a Si / Type R version. I will DD my Fit and buy a Si / Type R version for my weekend toy ;).

Any non-hybrid version would be welcomed. They can do something goofy with it too such as call it a "CRX"

Im excited about the prospect of a six speed fit. that article said the engine is the same as the jazz with six speed tranny made to fit. does that mean we will be able to pick up a tranny from the cr-z and mate to our fits?
