Chevy fights back. The new Aveo

Does it come in Taffy White though? Actually it is not bad looking at all. As 95% of most people would say another little shitbox like all the other ones including our Fits. They all look the same to them.

I don't think 138hp is that impressive coming from a turbo engine. BUT it does come with a turbo, which will make it easier to tune the car for more power. Styling is nice I think, but rear lights aren't that great looking like others have mentioned.

Sweet!! In the Lake Orion plant no less. I've always liked that plant aside from the garbage dump right next to it lol.

The point of that turbo isn't really speed though. It's to use small displacement to make reasonable power more efficiently. It sounds like a pretty neat engine really. Similar in concept to the 1.6L ecoboost that Ford should eventually be coming out with that will replace bigger 4-cylinders and the 2.0L ecoboost that will replace small 6-cylinders.

That's very true. But the Aveo we are seeing in this thread is the "RS" version. RS moniker should indicate top of the line in performance. If 138bhp is the top of the line well, that's not that much. But then they've been abusing for a long time the "RS" & "SS" monikers. The 1.6L Ecoboost that will be in the Fiesta should be for there performance version and should have some nice numbers. Oh and I will agree with you on the neat part. I'm glad GM and Ford are adding turbo engines to there line up. Maybe Honda will too?

Has Honda (auto) ever marketed a turbocharged car? Their only street turbo product that I can recall is the 1983 Honda CX650T motorcycle, which was "interesting," but something of a technological dead end. I'm not saying there will never be a factory turbo Fit, but it would be a very surprising direction for Honda engineering.

I think it looks sweet!! And for the power it makes, I think that's a lot though not massive in amount. It's making close to 100 HP per liter of displacement, assuming the weight is around the same as that of the Fit, I think this Chevy right here is mad fun to drive. Think of the VW GTI with their 2.0 FSI engine that's making 200 HP, which renders the car quick.
And as what the above has mentioned, having a turbo on this car would make it possible for some better aftermarket support on tuning it.

the 1.8T from the GTI was 180 hp... so the 138hp is pretty decent

hate the massive fullsize truck front end...and chevy symbol/logo just looks awkward on it, maybe a pontiac logo er something that flows...yea. other than that stuff, maybe gm will end up doing something right with this.?.

Got one of the last pontiacs, with an ecotec LNF 2.0L factory turbo direct injection that makes 290hp at the crank (with the GMPP factory tune). When loafing around town it gets 27mpg. 31mpg on the highway. But loafing isn't what it does best. A modern, well designed factory turbo gets economy and power (when you want it).
GM's got some tricks up its sleeve. I imagine it'll be a bit pricey though.
Honda doesn't like forced induction and favors getting the most out of NA via ivtec. But it has its limits.
