Came across a stock 07 WRX spoiler in my color for 80$ mint condition. I may pick it up.

The decals are gone buddy. I bought it like a wannabe STi.. Obviously the last owner was a poser haha. It has 0 STi badges and decals left. Looks way cleaner. Frankly im glad its not a STi insurance wise haha. And power wise it has more then enough right now, and ill probably be stage 2 soon and at that point the motors done.

A Stage 2 WRX is every bit as fast in a straight line as an STi (without the insurance rates), and with some minor suspension tweaks is every bit as nimble too. The STi has some other nice goodies too, but they can always be added.
I also found that the Subie 4-pot/2-pot setup is more responsive than the Brembo's (especially with upgraded pads), and without tracking the car you don't need all the extra rotational mass that come with the STi's brakes.

Such a blast in the winter though! I've never had more fun on snow than in the Subie. I couldn't wait for the next snowfall - now, not so much...

Sorry - I didn't mean to offend you at all (I was basing it off photos you had posted earlier). To each his own always, but I agree with you that it would be much cleaner without all the added goodies. Good choice taking them off! I also like the (much) lower WRX spoiler (if you decide to go that route) vs. the regular STi one - although it looks nice without the spoiler too.

Actually in lots of cases Stage2 WRXs beat STis. :)
Yeah the brakes arent bad, from what i hear they are the 04-05 STi breaks. They are decent.
Indeed! Blasts in the snow.

Wish I'd have gotten one over my fit at first but my preconception is anyone with a wrx/sti where I live is a tool(no pun tyler) in college who's mom/dad bought it because they have money and everyone thinks a wrx/sti just liek an evo is a godsend and nothing better can be had for the money and they don't know how to modify a vehicle...yea lol, rants over.
aaaaaanyways, I'd love em with no wing in the rear unless I see it on a track/is a track prepped subie. no harm in picking it up for that price though.
#126
Absolutely. And at a lower cost than an STi! Perfect.
Actually they're not from that STi, but they've been around for a long time. They have been used in other parts of the world on WRX's for many years, including the best STi of all time the 22B, and are the standard brakes for Group N rallying because they fit under (some) 15" wheels. Can't say that for the Brembos!

haah, yea after riding along with a couple friends just outside of town this winter...there's like a dam/ditch in a field...gravel roads on each side up n down yea...just a standard ND field lol. plowing through the snow like a snowcat n coming up over n catching a tad but of air over the dam...instant love. just sold my eg2 and hoping I can call my fit sold by summer and I've been torn between the next vehicle I want...wrx(sedan or wagin...not 100% sure), 2.5rs, s13 coupe, ae86, wogovan, ef hatch...yea.

Yeah, the yellow was only on the bugeye WRXs and ~8k should get you into a 2001 or maybe a 2002. Although would probably be high mileage car.

@ Tyler / TOOL
RE: my car. It is a 4AT (Blah) with the original f22a1 engine (meh). So I have a few things against me here, lame tranny, and high ish displacement non vtec engine. I find the car is quite tossable though, I am on stock wheels and tires and despite trademark understeer it corners decent IMO.
I was actually looking at the WRX the other night on the subie website, looks hawt. I am really into hatches though so I would go for the newer hatchback one. I know it looks funny, but I think its cool, and its hatch....so win win?
Frankly though what we need are alot more Turbo diesel type engines. The most practical car I can think of owning now is a Golf TDI. 42 mpg highway, 30ish city. Crap ton of torque (for a Golf), possibility for meth injection without changing it to FI (already is stock). Seems win all around.
Edit: Oh, by the way. My schools auto shop has a student project car. Some Suzuki hatch with a Kubuto (spelling) 4cyl truck engine. Old school diesel in a tiny hatch. 100 mpg. Yeah I realize its suzuki and handles like a brick, but damn...Why can we not buy cars like that? WTF honestly.....

LOL... finally done reading this whole thread. It's funny how everyone thinks it's STI... I thought everyone was going crazy. (I'm a subie owner too ^_~ ) no roof vane, using wrx wheels (wrx - 5x100 , sti - 5x114) and etc... yours is a TR also. No side skirts and non painted side mirrors. Anyways, nice pics of the autoX.
Anyways, from subaru owner... just want to say HI! Are you on any subaru forum btw?

No kidding we shall... When you're down here or when I am up there. I'm planning a trip again up there maybe in couple of months.
The thing is, I been avoiding to drive my car up there. Cause of the road conditions lol.
