If you were going to upgrade to another car...

I like the Fit+Miata combo too, but I have to convince my significant other that it won't represent a larger expense in the long run than getting a new car that is a better all-around solution, a la a WRX or MS3. It's also a space issue, as our garage is a smaller 2-car situation. But I know I can get a 1.8 NA Miata for just a couple of grand, and keep it running with help from my local salvage yard. I just need some concrete data. Time to hit the Miata boards!

such a typical response.
just so everyone here knows, newer vw's, are great. (and yes, even consumer reports says so, for those of you who want to go down that path.)
and i'm speaking from experience, and from documented data from other owners.
i like the speed 3 suggestion too.....i dont think any other new sport subcompact has had so many used listings right after its release lol.
it wont be the cheapest choice...but the mk6 VW gti is the best of both worlds man. its the nicest car of the bunch, a jack of all trades. probably the best dd ever imo.
you could be lest lofty and get a vw golf tdi which gets phenomenal mileage, has gti suspension tuning, and is a lot torquier than the fit. just a suggestion....
.....
.....which i figured was ok since you said you NEEDED certain requirements, but people still want to suggest silly things like s2000's to you.

1 more option.........
How about 55 more HP for your FiT? Under $600.00 and 2hrs. under the hood; would that fill your need for speed? :)
ZEX....................;)
