2010 VW Scirocco R
VW unleashes the hot Scirocco R
Finally, we've got a more meaty VW Scirocco to lust after. This is the R version and it sounds good. It ain't cheap though.
This is the fastest, most hardcore Scirocco R ever. Put it this way, a Scirocco is a hot wind, so this bad boy is pretty much what you get after a night on the beer and a Chicken Vindaloo.
Most importantly, under the bonnet is the engine from the Audi S3, so it’s just like the one in the normal car, but with uprated pistons, high-pressure injectors and a bigger turbo to liberate 265hp and 350Nm of torque.
Sticking with Scirocco tradition, the R is front-wheel-drive only, but at least the power will be tempered by the addition of the new XDS electronic diff as fitted to the new Golf GTI. You can have a six-speed manual or a DSG, depending on how involved you want to be with the driving experience. It’s a bit lower and has beefed-up brakes too.
Complimenting the under-hood fireworks are plenty of scoops and vents in the new body kit, some nice wheels and a little wing too. Sports seats, nice dials and lots of R badges are fitted to the insides.
You can snap up a Scirocco R from September, with prices from around £26,000. That makes it more expensive than a Ford Focus RS so it better be damn good.

I don't like the rear end. It tries to be aggressive but it looks very traditional at the same time. The front reminds me of the S14 silvia. The stance is nice with the car seemingly leaning forward. Now only if we can put the hardwares of that car into our fits.

sex on wheels. suprised they kept it fwd though, even with xds, as the new R series golf, the R20 will be awd with this same turbo.
granted we dont get the scriocco here in the states and we may not even get the R20. :(

Oh come on, some idiot does it in every thread on this whole freaking forum that has pictures. But no one ever really complains, why do you have to?
As for the car, I think I'm gonna need another box of tissues >.>

I've always had a soft spot for the Scirocco. This is a 3-door Golf GTI done right. Indeed, in some European markets the more desirable Scirocco is cannibalizing sales of its 3-door Golf GTI brother.
That said, I like the 2.0L version the most. This one I'm not so sure. 265HP to the front driveshafts might be asking for too much...but hey, Ford did 300 with its Focus RS. We'll see.
VW doesn't sell anything here in Manila though. US Scirocco admirers, I feel your pain :D
