Kia Soul... open discussion

The Hyundais and Kias are wayyyyy better than they used to be. They actually have really good fit and finish, you would be surprised. I honestly think that the new KIA looks better than the scion xBs and Nissan CUBE and the really *** shit they are trying to sell as people movers. The KIA has a proven 4 banger that gets good mileage and has good power, and now its in a more people-friendly quirky styled vehicle. the top and rear almost reminds me of the Land Rover LRX concept. I think it will be a big seller for KIA. The looks are not offensive, its sufficiently bland and boxy like many sport ute owners like to see, to make it look a lil more tough, but it will get 30+mpg and have better visibility on the road, and its practical. Add the 100k mile warrantee, thats a decent lil package for a practical vehicle. Still better than HHR or PTcruiser or Dodge/jeep or anyone else in the people mover market other than the fit.

I am really feeling the car more and more every time I see it. I like the hamster commercial too, hella funny. I think for 13k you get a decent car that can fit multiple uses without trying too hard. The gas mileage is over 30, and it supposedly handles really well too. I would say its a definite alternate to any scion/fit/yaris and it looks better than most of them. Plus it is very functional looking. Its a lil taller, so you would get high field of vision, the rims that come on it are simple and clean. They did a tidy job on the car, and the beltline is high. I think it will be a real seller. Hyundai and Kia are the only companies selling cars right now. They have gone up. Between the Genesis Coupe and the Kia Soul and Koup coming out, they should have plenty of nice offerings for budget minded transportation that is still fun.

I thought the hamster commercial was for the Scion. Guess the look is so close, I should really pay attention more. Kia has to build their reputation if they want people to start buying more of their cars. At least they aren't going bankrupt.

they actually have a pretty cool concept that's production ready and could be on sale in North America by the end of this year. I didn't take the time to host the image, but here's a link:

You said it, I actually owned one. My stupid mistake. But hey, at least I learned it & traded for the Fit. But I'm not so sure about the Soul though. Just not so sure at all.

13k&30+mpg=good shit. Also, I used to work for a Car Rental agency, and the Hyundai's and Kia's took the worst beatings, and never broke. We had zero mechanical issues other than on an Azera someone smoked the flywheel burning the car up with the 270hp paddle shifters. They seriously had less issues than the hondas or toyotas. I will never buy a GM product after seeing how a rental holds up even after 5-10k miles. They just fall apart so quickly. The dodges too. The Fords were pretty decent.

On the comment on Kia being unoriginal and finally creating their own car--they were purchased by Hyundai.
Hyundai has changed its market from college students to compete with Honda/Toyota. Kia is their new low end.
I think the commercial was adorable and actually saw one being test drove today (drove up next to it in my Fit). I think, in the looks department, it is trying to compete with the Scion series, Fit, Mini Cooper, and all of those other little cars out there that are competing to similar markets--but it is kind of a mix of all these cars, not really favoring one design over another.
Very cute car. I'd consider buying one. Don't Kia's have 10-year warranties?

My friends and I have all discussed this car just because the Commercial gave it a lot of hype. Comments from everyone including separate conversations this comes up each time. "It's a cool car, i would maybe get one.. BUT ITS A KIA..."
