As I complained about in other threads, I can't get my license due to insurance costs, and I will have to wait about a year and a half until I get it, but then I will get a car. See, my sister got a new 09 Mazda 3 (not the 2010, or the new "smiley one) for the same price as a used one, so my parents have to get me a new car (or a Fit). So all I have to do is wait.....and wait some more. This is gonna suck. ='(
Don't fret young padawan. It's just a car and you're still in HS...you should be concentrating on other things anyhow.

I don't know how it is over there in Florida, but getting your license might be a good thing since most insurance companies go by the time you got your license rather than your age.

I mean, if anything, you should ask your parents if you can get a separate insurance plan for you with the minimum coverage for your state (over here in CA, it's $10k liability). And put that coverage on a car your family owns so you can drive it. It may not be your own car, but at least you can drive it. If they make you pay for it, get a job at McDonald's or something after school. You can use that as extra curricular activities in your college application.

Your problem is similar to mine I had last year. I was looking for cheap older cars that I could afford but my parents didn't want me to buy something cheap and unreliable. They made a deal with me that I could put in half the money for a new fit and pay back the rest in payments to them. My payments aren't ridiculous and they also cover my insurance. Maybe you could do the same? Get a job after school or on weekends and make a plan with your parents to pay off the fit now rather than waiting 2 years for it. It is well worth it, I love my fit.

I agree with most

Used manual Fit Sport, Or Civic Hatch.
You are lucky though my first was a Brazilian made Beetle with a 1300cc engine.
I blinged it out with a Cherry Bomb muffler and Sheepskin seat covers and painted the wheel caps gold.
My Dad sold it for more than he bought it for NEW after I left Panama.

I saved up 5K and put it down with my trade in, and now i pay $195 a month. I paid $200 a month for insurance(im 21) but I got a good drivers discount and now I pay $175 a month for insurance. But I do save alot of money on gas now. But it kinda sucks working full time just to keep/drive my car. It makes college a hell of alot harder. LOL.
