408/PT98/Six Speed Build
Were getting closer to dropping the motor in and being in business, so figured id throw up some pics.
Motor
408 Cubic Inch Iron block, half filled (out of casper, courtesy of Kurt Urban)
Callies crank
Diamond Pistons
howards rods
AFR 225's, GM Carb Style intake, custom cam (off Feredays old setup)
solid roller
etc etc
Precision 98mm Turbo
Custom built Kit by RPM
Custom Front Mount Intercooler
Full suspension, tubular K member and control arms, etc
12 Bolt rear with 3.42 geared spool
Built T56 (not as built as it should be, so its probably going to explode after its first two-step launch)
315/60/15 MT DR's
Minitubbed
10pt chromoly cage
Big stuff 3
Turbo
motor at kurts place
Minitub
Brakes, MADMAN offset LCA's
Rear
Alumastar
Weight should be fairly low when its all said and done as well.
Car is being largely built at RPM in Garner, NC. Motor as mentioned before is being put together by Kurt. I have a few short term goals for the six speed, then more than likely Ill put a th210 in it with a 106 and an A2W and see how fast it will really go. Another month or two and we should be in business. Ive got a few vipers and supras to slap in the mean time, as it will remain a true street car.
The cam was ground to push about 20psi (from what I was told when i bought the stuff, at 19.5lbs of boost this exact heads/cam/intake combo made 1300whp through a glide on the black car, 398ci, 91mm turbo). Through a 6 speed you can guess what that about equates too, so I dont think I will "need" to run quite 20lbs. Ill be turning it to about 8000.
It all depends on what it does on the dyno. I have my opinions, but im not mechanically inclined enough to disagree with anyone. Ill just have to wait and find out.
cage is all but done...
ass shot
My motor (left) and the motor for our Trailblazer SS arrived the other day via Kurts Silverado SS:
The TBSS motor is a 427 LSX. The truck will be in memphis participating in the truck class.
For my car: 408ci Iron block, filled and O ringed. Assembled By Mr. Urban.
Waiting on a few parts, but we should be ready to bang it out in Memphis on the street. Might make some test n tune passes as well. We shall see. Wont have a whole lot of time to iron out the car from a dig before memphis, so Ill have to stick with the roll ons for the moment. Either way, I cannot wait to hear this bitch spool.
Almost there.
Weld it up, pull it out, paint, replace, and ride.

This very large frame turbo need to be loaded with a auto, and your going to loose a lot of boost between shifts around 15psi, and your will need to rev to at least 8500 and should really rev to 9000rpm to make any use of that turbo......
Wasnt worried about the driveability part of the solid roller, more the adjusting the valve lash often.

Oh c'mon, we could make that FIT! LOL A pity to waste all that engineering and horsepower on such a lousy, inferior platform. Unless that thing was stitch-welded from stem to stern it'll try to disassemble itself on launch. I love how the cam grind makes it idle like a Harley Davidson. And why in hell would you not put a Lenco in a car with that much potential? Trying to hit the two-three upshift in that thing on 15psi of boost would be like threading a needle duct taped to the nose of an SR71 Blackbird. Should be a bucket of fun either way....
