the fit killer?

Until the SOURCE of our fuels is generated from environmental friendly facilities, there'll never been a true eco-friendly car on the road. Some sources (LPG, biodiesel, veggie oils) are already naturally good, but what sort of work goes into generating them?
And driving a completely electric car is more novelty than eco-conscious - chances are you're charging the car using electricity generated from coal power. Hmm...
I'll stick to a frugal gasoline sipper with good emissions ratings for now.

I'm not sure the new nsight is a Fit killer (assuming comparable years)... but if one was looking at a '09 Fit with Auto and wanted to get VSA then they were looking at $19k+, then another $2-3k may get an Insight EX with VSA (without the Navigation commitment) better mileage, outside temp, heated mirrors with built in turn signals, etc. We'll have to see what '10 Fit feature list looks like, and of course what Insight pricing turns out. I'm not sure I would use the tumble/magic seat feature in the Fit, certainly would use the folding rear seats in both cars for throwing a bike in the back. Should be able to drive them back to back in May....

If the price is really going to be around 20-22 g's in Canada that is going to be some tough competition with the Fit as its around the same price.
Still prefer the FIT and Hybrids are not all cracked up to be that environmentally friendly---what happens to that big toxic battery when its done? The cost to replace it most be crazy $$$ as well. my.02$

hmmm...the batteries themselves last around 5 years...you should be done paying of the car by then, or close to it.
it really is not an issue unless the battery is more expensive than a new car.

It gets 2mpg less on the highway then the Civic hybrid? So isn't Honda kind of competing with itself and taking sales away from the Civic Hybrid? And the Prius gets 8 mpg more in the city and 2 on the highway. Then again, the Insight and Prius are in 2 diff classes, compact and midsize.
From MSN:
Customers will be most interested in Environmental Protection Agency fuel-economy ratings, which are 40/43 mpg (city/highway). That's 2 mpg less on the highway than the Civic Hybrid, and it trails the Toyota Prius by 8 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway. The Insight qualifies as an Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV).

Relating to the battery issue, the designers of the Tesla said their batteries should last around 100k miles and the replacements would run around $10,000....providing the current technology available doesn't change. Also, I remember reading somewhere where Honda is considering a hybrid Fit. Not sure if its this generation or if they are waiting till next round?

ImInsideFit- where did you get your rims?? they are so nice!!
And as for the insight... the front looks alright, but the back looks like a prius, and everyone knows the prius is the ugliest of all hybrids.

Dont waste your money on hybrids....they are a stepping stone to electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles....
also the battery in it does more damage to the environment then using the tiny bit extra gas in such cars as the fit....

i love this line "When you pool together all the combined energy it takes to drive and build a Toyota Prius, the flagship car of energy fanatics, it takes almost 50 percent more energy than a Hummer"
fyi the scion xB (the car i should have kept) is the cheapest per mile to drive then 99% of cars out there
