why swap a LS?
ok so me and a few of my buddies were talking last nite. why do people swap LS's into eveything? and then thay leave them stock and say "oh my LS is so so fast and ill beat you" when my stock d16 will keep up with them. the main resion i allways have thought the LS was good for was boost becouse you have all the bottom end and torque to still have the power till you build boost. but why swap it then leave it stock? ITS NOT WORTH IT lol, what do you guys think about this? discuss!

it really depends on what your swaping your LS into.
i swapped my 89 civic hatch with a d16a6 and raced my friends 91 integra with header and intake
the race was dead even everytime.
now if it were the other way around 89 LS hatch vs 91 LS integra well im sure you would know the outcome.
to be honest the LS motor is good with a B16 tranny and a few bolt on's.

yea i use to have a EF hatch too with a single v-tec and i use to beat the 91 integras all the time, then i swap it with a B16 and i ran one of my boddies with a crx with an LS swap and i beat him a couple times... but yea LS have a good torque but on top end is not that good.

the reason you swap an ls into ANYTHING is because 140hp and almost 130 lbt-ft of tq into an older honda that weighs less then 2400lbs makes for a nice little daily that is relatively quick.
personally, i'm not one for frankenstein engines, even if i am impressed and respect what some folks have done with them.
this coupled with the fact that they are cheap makes it a great choice for someone building a car who wants a good decent engine in it before he does his type r conversion or his k20 swap.
they are nice to boost because of their relatively low compression as well, esp compared to other honda motors. (understand this and you'll understand why there are guys at meets who scoff at people with type r integras that are turboed.)
