Should I get a s2000?

Well I went out and test drove a ap2 today. All I say is damn cause now I'm really considering getting one now. I was just checking the numbers if I were to trade my fit in and the payments would remain almost the same. So I would like to get some opinions from current owners or past. I know some of you came from owning s2k's so question is why did you sell it for the fit. Don't get me wrong I love my fit the great gas mileage, space, and look. Today none of that seemed to matter. For example i have only used my back seats twice now so i doubt the whole two seater thing will bother me. Enough talk discuss

I love the S2000. They just are not great for daily driving. No cargo space, and the cockpit is kinda cramped.
But they get good gas mileage for a sports car, great reliablility, good resale value, fast, lots of aftermarket potential.

It's really down to how well you can adapt to the inconveniences of no cargo room and being cramped for extended periods of time.

What are you planning on doing with it anyway?

Stock S2K's seem to do really well in Autocross and road courses; not the strongest on the drag strip and I find a lot of people expect more out of them when really they don't fall into that super high power category.

The main cons I see is it doesn't strike me as a great car for road trips or anything involving less than perfect weather. Forget function and scratch daily driving. It looks like a fun car to drive, but not really something I would want to be spending a lot of time in unless I was pushing it.

Me personally, I am not a big convertible fan. But if I was I wouldn't be considering the S2K, I would be looking at the much better priced similar performance MX6. The pricetag on the S2K has always struck me as being way too high.

Anyway, at the end of the day I can see this being a nice car for toying around with at the track, cruising with the top down and maybe going out for a windy trip somewhere.

That is my .02 ;)

keep the Fit AND get the S2K. Thats what I plan on doing. One car can be your DD and the other your sport car.

Problem SOLVED. :D

I actually went from an S2000 to my Fit about 2 months ago...
main reason for trading it in was that I simply drive too much,I put 30k on it in 11 months and if theres one thing that drops the value of that car in particular, its mileage.

Now one comment, the S was a GREAT daily driver,I dont have kids, wont have kids for a long time, and the trunk is plenty big for whatever I needed to carry.Seriously theres plenty of room in that thing for DD.

Valve adjustments every 25-30k are kinda g@y,along with having any variance in tire psi or a mildly off allignment turn the car pretty dangerous...

I had an ap1,phuck whatcha heard ap1 FTW.

Change your diff fluid every few oil changes, its easy.

TCT is another little bitch that will bite you in the ass.

uhh dont do burnouts...ever

deff get one with a glass rear window, you said ap2 so youre set in that aspect.

premium fuel = teh suxors

keep her over 50ish and youre set in pouring rain with the top down, not a drop will hit you with the windows up

keep good care of the headlights,I had one fog up on me and ended up shorting out.

buy my leftover S2000 stuff.

I think that covers everything.

also, s2000 is not fat friendly. I'm 5' 7" approx 175-180lbs and I barely fit right in it. :/

Good car though but honestly I'd take a Z in that price range.

Im just about the same and fit fine. The S is fine to daily... I just hated dailying a car like that.

If you want a convertible that would be a little more practical as a Daily driver, I would check out a 2004+ saab 9-3 convertible. Depending on trim level you get 210HP 221 lb-ft, and can easily hit 30 MPG's on the highway.. not to mention you can still throw a couple set of golf clubs on the back seats. Its what my sister drives and I borrow it when ever i get a chance :p .

Lots of misinformation in this thread, or just a difference of opinions...

I'm not skinny, some may call me hefty. I'm 5'11' and about 235 and my S is very comfortable on a daily basis. If it wasn't for my changed job location, or the fact that the wife needed a car to drive around that wasn't a gas hog, I wouldn't be buying a Fit.

I have driven and owned MANY sports cars/AWD turbo boxes/ luxury cars/ high end sports cars, and my S2000 is by far one of the most satisfying cars to drive. My AP2 has enough TQ to drive around everyday, it isn't that loud for a drop top, and when you want to toss it into a corner, it will do anything you say. The gearbox and cockpit sold me on the car alone, but after looking for almost a year, I landed a AP2 White/Tan with only 3K miles. Haven't looked back since...

Now if I just had some more bills to make it look like this:

im 5'6 225lbs and i fit perfect in a S2 although the Z is a little more comfortable the S2 wins me over in fun factor..

well i guess people have different opinions on "comfortable" because i drove an s2k daily for about a week and i feel that it was uncomfortable to drive in daily. i was approx. 5'9"-5'10" @ 170lbs at that time, and it felt like my arms and legs were constricted in the cockpit. i would say that the s2k would be great for me if i had another car on the side that drove for my day-to-day grind. it really only depends on whether or not you're comfortable in it and if you think the car suits your needs. if everything suits you then you should get it!

Its not hard... Just if your tires are bald. It also depends on which tires you run. I dailyed my S for about 2 years and it wasnt uncomfortable. It just started getting beat up by dailying it... and i hated that... thats why I said its not the best daily. Id rather beat up a Fit than a S2K

yeah
me being 17, i'd love to daily drive an s2k, but if you CAN, it'd be so nice to have one as a weekend car, and a fit as your daily beater
