Should I get a s2000?
#21
that is one friggen awesome looking ride there, wiggum! :wavey:
im thinking about getting a S2000 maybe next year... the last
year models before they all dissappear.
i was very close to getting a CR this Fall, but i decided to keep my
cooper-s a little longer... (I also have a G35C 6MT).
imho, s2k's are a 2nd or 3rd car for me...meaning not for dd, but for
hobby only. that's how nice they drive. it's a pure sportscar and
would keep it fully convertible for motoring on those nice cool
days (60F-70F mornings) with the top down. hibernate them
in the winter, etc.

Lots of misinformation in this thread, or just a difference of opinions...
I'm not skinny, some may call me hefty. I'm 5'11' and about 235 and my S is very comfortable on a daily basis. If it wasn't for my changed job location, or the fact that the wife needed a car to drive around that wasn't a gas hog, I wouldn't be buying a Fit.
I have driven and owned MANY sports cars/AWD turbo boxes/ luxury cars/ high end sports cars, and my S2000 is by far one of the most satisfying cars to drive. My AP2 has enough TQ to drive around everyday, it isn't that loud for a drop top, and when you want to toss it into a corner, it will do anything you say. The gearbox and cockpit sold me on the car alone, but after looking for almost a year, I landed a AP2 White/Tan with only 3K miles. Haven't looked back since...
Now if I just had some more bills to make it look like this:

ahhh BBS LM
one of the unofficial set of wheels that look gorgeous on the S2k
i understand too, i went from AP1 to Fit
if you can afford it definitely go for it you won't regret it.
i'm keeping the Fit for a while unfortunately, while i like the car, i do and always will love s2000's
i just need to wait for the right time to jump back in one.
spring time i'll be getting my new toy can't wait.

Exactly what my plans are next year! :vtec: I have to sell my Prelude first!

Yes i want my next car to be a S200 white with the red interior. I think they are pure sex or maybe blue. But i don't have the funds for one right now but in a couple of years maybe. Just not sure if i would try to keep the Fit or trade it in toward the S2000. The only problem with the S2000 is i have been looking at them for a while and they are expensive new and used. But hope fully i will get a better job when i finish school up

As A Former Owner:
I can tell you this: The interior is extremely tight, it is a nightmare to get in and out of, and it is VERY IMPRACTICLE. It also must be driven at extremely high RPM to get power out of the motor but it does handle well and the older models had an AWESOME transmission. Would I get another? NO WAY. I woulg go with the new hardtop retractable Miata.

i disagree, i found my AP1 very comfortable and practical as a daily driver.
if you know anything about honda motors, they are designed to rev high and make power at higher rpms because its a DOHC Vtec motor.
Please don't bash the s2000 and go buy your fag miata.
i'm sure miata's are faster, bigger on the inside, handle better, and have better trannies ROFL! :D

The S2000 is a fun car, no 2 ways about it. It is however very impractical, in fact the only car more impractical was my 911. I suggest that you gain some experience before trashing someone elses opinion.

Ever own a G35? Ever own an Audi S4? Ever own a WRX? Ever own a Mini Cooper? Ever own a 911? Ever own an M3? Ever race at Pocono? I have owned all of the above and this is not to brag in any way. It shows EXPERIENCE IN CARS.

your posts are just retarted
wow u owned all those cars, want a f'ing cookie?
you're saying you'd rather get a miata over an s2k
the miata is inferior and much smaller than the s2000
for what the s2000 is, it's the best
for all 4cyl 2 seater roadsters, it's the best in it's class/price range
the changes over the years were to make the car more comfortable, which i never had any problems with.
now you are comparing it to a g35, s4, m3, 911 based on your experience?
those cars are in a completely different class.
the only thing remotely close to an s2000 would be a 911.
if you wanted something practical you should've got a dodge caravan, plenty of cupholders and interior space =)

Sure, the interior is 'tight' but then again so is the interior of an NSX. But that's not stopping me from getting one.
If you think the S2000 is a nightmare to get in an out of then you are out of shape. Try getting in an out of a Lotus Elise/Exige; then tell me which one is a nightmare.
What is practical for one person may not be for the next. Plenty of S2000 owners daily drive their cars year round. And that inlcudes areas that get hit with lots of snow.
And congratulations on figuring out that a Honda 4-cylinder needs wound to high heaven to make power. We have all been waiting for that revelation.
The fact that you would choose a MX-5 over an S2000 shows that you have no knowledge of automotive engineering. A retractable hard top is more appealing to you than a forged 4 cylinder engine that pumps out 110hp/litre.

Sir, I suggest a spelling class
before calling someone "retarted" . I clearly can tell from your response that you are not yet old enough to obtain a drivers license. Once you do then we can continue a rational discussion. Have a nice day.

welcome to the interwebz. full of misspelling and grammatical errors.
I haven't struggled to get in or out of my S2000 in the past five years. Maybe you'd like to see my competition driving license? Or maybe next time I am doing driving instruction I'll call you and see if you can do it.
You posted your opinions about the car and not facts. Maybe until you learn to separate those two you should put your training wheels back on.

My cousin bought his S2000 about a month after I bought my Fit. He does not use it as a daily driver only during weekends and short trips. He loves that car and only has a little over 3000 miles on it. I've got over 7000 on my Fit.

I love the s2000 but i don't think its a great DD at all. And i would not say its the best in its class. They want 37000 for one i was looking at the dealer. I love them and want one but i think they are pricey for what u get. i could buy a new evo for that. And the miata is a nice car to and alot cheaper than the s2000. But i would still rather have a S2000. But to say its the best in its class can't be true, i can name a couple of 4cyl that would spank it for the same price range. A STI,EVO, Lotus,. Now like i said i love it becasue its convertable and would be great in the summer. But they are not fast stock and are not the best DD i want one as a weekend crusier car some day
