Heel toe: Gas pedals that pivot "down" vs pivot "up"
#21
Another example I forgot to give is going downhill. If you want to downshift to engine brake, it is strongly recommended you heel toe. As you go downhill you brake, but in order to downshift w/o releasing the brake, you need to heel toe. If you just do a normal blip-downshift, your car will speed up which is dangerous and harder to rev match.
See in the above example you don't "need" to engine brake. You "could" just step on the brake the entire way w/o shifting.

your not DRIVING a MT until you know how to shift up/down, heel and
toe smoothly. you're just getting your MT car from a to b... also double
clutching is useful when going into 1st gear or reverse on a roll. i do
that often.
if you consider yourself a car enthusiast learn the basics of how to
drive a MT car and its acrobatics. the Fit's clutch is very easy on
the driver as it can slip quite a bit before it heats up compared to
other cars especially those with a lot more power.
as far as my preference on pedal pivot location, i like the top pivoting
instead of the organ pedal. my cooper-s is organ pedal type and i can
still heel & toe (more like heel & side of foot) on that as well and do
everything that i can do on the top pivoting pedal, but i like the top
pivoting cause i can do the heel&side of foot for softer approaches
and a full heel&toe on spirited approaches coming up to a turn or stop.

yep. preferrably i'd like a little lip on the gas pedal like on the mugen
pedals, but i manage. i just dont wear narrow shoes when driving this car.

i find it pretty hard heel toe with the fit compared to my old integra
i think cuz the pedals are closer to each other too
so what ive been doing is
rolling my foot over to hit the pedal while i stll have a part of my foot on the brake
i tried actually heal toeing normally like how i did when i had my integra and i would end up kicking hte wall
=[

heel-toe is only way to go. You can get some ridiculously fast shifts without destroying the gearbox, revmatching is easier. I use heeltoe on all sticks, but vary how much clutch i even use depending on the car. My accord has an 8lb flywheel with exedy stage 2 and i barely have to touch the clutch, like 2-finger light tug on the racebike. its just more natural
