Hello,
I previously posted about my honda accord's
battery failing the battery check.

I've since called the dealer and found out
that the Parts Dept batteries are Interstate
batteries, not the factory originals.

I currently have a Delphi battery.

Are interstate batteries just as good?

I know they also carry this battery in Firestone
Tires. Any advice on having it replaced via
Firestone vs. the dealer?

If you actually want a great battery, get down to Sears and get the
Gold WeatherHandler. $80 + tax.

Otherwise you're getting a mediocre-to-pretty good battery, which may
serve your needs perfectly well, depending on how long you keep the
car.

I have an Interstate Megatron in my '04, bought at Sam's Club. But it
isn't a Megatron 2 which is apparently better, or a standard
Interstate, which is assuredly worse. It's just a $50 battery, and you
can get the equivalent pretty much anywhere for around the same price.
But some $50 batteries are just junk. For example, stay far away from
Exide.

Hello,
I have an Interstate battery in my 99 Accord and so far--it's working
great. Don't buy a Sears battery unless it's on sale.

Sorry, I was not aware of that. About 5 years ago, I got
a great deal on a Sear's battery. I did not realize that
they are not now having special sales.

I had no problems with a 51R DieHard Silver - purchased in 1999 when
Sears had multiple battery suppliers, including Exide. My particular
battery was made by Exide, and it lasted about 5 years before I just
felt like replacing it. At about the time I bought the battery,
Sears and Johnson Controls agreed to a contract that JCI would be the
sole source for Sears's automotive batteries.

At one time, all Interstate batteries were made by Johnson Controls.
Interstate no longer mentions that JCI makes their batteries. I don't
know if it's because they have multiple sources, actually make their
own batteries, stopped buying from JCI, or prefer an illusion that
they make the product they sell.

NOT THE DEALER!!!!!!

BTW...I have five years on my Interstate battery and
it turns over just fine.

if you have a costco, get a battery there.
