Painting my Sol!

Painting my Sol! Updated 4/28/08!
YAY! I stopped being lazy long enough to finally put paint on the 2 year old primer on my Sol.
When I bought it 2 years ago:
After some OEM body parts:
Two coats:
Right after the sixth coat (still needs to be wet sanded):
Still going to do four to six more coats.
*Edit* Going to be putting in new BLACK door handles and mirrors, as well as stripping the paint from the side skirts.

dude, if you have a garage, you shoulda sprayed it. goes on much easier. not bad though. props for the DIY. my brother has $50 paint on his sol. he did black, tehn yellow, and now white. the lighter the color, the easier it is to make it look good. you gotta wetsand and buff it to a nice shine!

Cf hood, trunk lid, rear garnish and roof panel. And no I don't even care because that much raw cf looks like ass and screams STEAL ME!
Me a weekend and a six pack of Sol. (HA)
I started to spray it but my garage is tiny.

*UPDATE* stopped painting to strip ALL glass, weather stripping, other non-paintable parts today.
I decided to stop dicking around and actually dive into the full out restoration. The yellow was going to be a temp coating for the summer, but since God decided we needed 13 inches of snow in 22 hours, I'm just going to start now. My projected completion date is NLT May 2011 so I can make Vegas Invasion after I get back from Iraqistan.

Old project cars are fun aren't they!! I helped my dad with a few years ago. I don't have the space where presently live though for any such fun. We painted a couple in the garage too, it can be done. We constructed a little plastic diy booth...

The $50 paint job uses a paint roller to apply the paint. Google it if you want. It has been pretty popular for the last couple of years.

I bought from a lieutenant in my unit who bought it from some dumb ass kid. That body kit was installed with 3M tape and drywall screws.
Its actually 2 cars. one was a front end total and the other was a rear end. they were stripped down and the unibodies were braced and welded together in the middle. Then all the panels and glass were put back on. It is perfectly straight and doesn't shimmy, shake or vibrate.
Within the next few months I will have it down at the race shop to have a six point roll cage welded in to help strengthen the chassis and make it race legal. My budget for this build is $10,000. When completed it will be running either an F20B or H22A, whichever I get a better deal on, and will be a straight line and road track monster.
