Quite the entrance, definitely beats the "pull the tarp off the car" reveal:

Holy crap that thing looks nice. It reminds me of the new AUDI sport coupe. But I still can't stomach the thought of owning a Hyundai.

I want to hate on it, but it looks great, is rear drive, and has 300hp. Might be worth buying and keeping as long as the warranty lasts.

Hyundai is making a really big push...Korea is the new Japan I hear :) I think this is a big step forward for Hyundai, the Kia Cee'd in Europe is popular and is rated pretty good, even by Top Gear. The 2009 Genesis was at the Calgary Auto Show and it looks pretty nice, 7 Series luxury at a 3 Series price is what many people call it. This new Genesis Coupe will replace the Tiburon and be a strong competitor in the sport coupe segment. Top of the line has a V6 w/ 306HP and is RWD!!!

I dont see why this is any better of an option than say at 05 or 06 Pontiac GTO. The GTO's have very nice features and still cost less than the Genesis.

How much are the GTO's? If you did do that, you'd be getting a used car instead of a new car. This should slot in around the price of a Mustang I believe. The G8 is going to be a beast since it's a re-badged Holden Monaro!!! :D

Im not feeling it. :( Looks nice and the specs are nice. But for the whole pyro and everything...felt like Hyundai hired the guys from the WWE to promote their cars. Sometimes too much hype can bite you in the ass. Remember all the hype that came with the "new" Ford Thunderbird from a few years back? Heck it even made car of the year (I think it was Motor Trend that gave it that title if my alzheimers is working correctly). Boom, gone, epic fail. Hope Hyundai doesn't try to market this with an Xtreme type of moniker. Thats a couple years too late and might cheapen the cars image.

Yeah, can't compare used to new. Plus there was a reason the GTO's didn't sell well...they weren't very attractive. I was their intended market...have owned multiple fox body Mustangs and prefer domestic v8's. Now I'm left with the Mustang GT and the Corvette as my options. Corvette isn't in my budget and the 4.6 3-valve motor in the Mustang does NOTHING for me.

I've heard rumors for about a year now that Pontiac would eventually be GM's reardrive brand. I just really hope they they do that, but get rid of the red interior lighting and tacky body kits.

Looks awesome. I'll be sure to give it a test drive when it comes out, if the fuel economy of the I4 is decent. All you badge snobs who will never own a Hyundai... you just might be missing out!

I might as well say, props to Hyundai nowadays. Well the Tiburon kinda started cool, the last Tiburon was warmer & decent, but this is definitely hot!!!! I like this. Well I own a Fit, but I have to say Hyundai is on a rampage.

They made the genesis to compete with the likes of the Lexus IS and BMW 3 Seies. Hyundai is definnitely bunping up their performance and quality nowadays, and I must say, I'm impressed. I can't wait to drive one of these babies. It makes me miss my Tibby (the original REX)!

The 4 cyl turbo coupe is rumored to list for just under $20K, with the V6 model listing around $25k. Didn't the GTO start at like $32k? This is a great value. I'll be waiting for the rags to start there test drive comparisons.
