Older small vehicles with comparable cargo space?

I'm not familiar with many of the older hatches, is there anything one could find in the used category with similar cargo space as a Fit? (seats down)

I currently have an old caravan as a spare vehicle (haven't used in awhile) but there was this one time the Fit was in the shop for a safety recall and I had to use a rental and the only thing they had with my space requirements was an 08 uplander so I took it(where I usually spend around $8 in gas a day I put around $25 in that thing). The caravan isn't even that bad and it is in desperate need of a tuning(it's a gas/oil hybrid.. perhaps even gas/oil/coolant hybrid!)

I've noticed older honda civic hatches that look quite wide but a little low.. so probably not as much space but am curious.

doesn't have to be honda either, something small with huge cargo space, fuel efficient, reliable, preferrably quite cheap to buy and maintain :)

Scion xB!! Look into it if it's within your budget.

I've never seen a scion at any dealership here (mid-Canada), not sure it's available up here.. I've only ever seen it once or twice on the road in the last few years.

Most of those cars listed are a bit pricey for the type of used vehicle I'm thinking of (except the PT cruiser heh), a few of the listed cars above actually cost more used than a new Fit up here(or in the same ballpark)... although some I haven't really noticed before like the corolla hatchback or camry wagon. The focus hatchbacks are way too small inside.

How about this for criteria, something older than say 8 years... I was thinking really cheap since I will barely drive it perhaps under $7k or so.

My "first" car was a 1983 Honda Civic Wagon, and I could fit a lot of stuff into it. In a lot of ways I wish I still had that car, but hopefully my new Fit can fill those shoes. I'll post a picture of it once my website control panel starts working again.
