diagnosis/cost: 98 accord lx hesitates @ startup
I took my car with the problem stated below to the dealer. They say it's
the fuel pressure regulator and CVS(?) Valve and to replace both will cost
$105 parts and $270 labor. Any thoughts or comments on the diagnosis or
cost? Thanks in advance.
My '98 Accord LX has been hesitating after I start it for a few months.
My
check engine light was on for a while and when I had regular maint. (~85k
miles), they said it was nothing and reset it. The light came back on not
long after. Both before and after the service, the car has been
hesitating
and sometimes stalling when I try to accelerate just after starting the
car
(in any weather). Once I'm going, no problems. If it matters, I drive ~60
miles, all expressway (60-80 mph), every day. Thanks in advance

Don't waste (everybody's) time. Get the CODES. You paid for them. What's
your present mileage, and have you ever changed the timing belt or had
the valves adjusted? Is your fuel mileage down a couple notches from
previous?

Curly - sorry to waste your time. I didn't know what other info was needed
in the post. I don't know what I don't know.
Mileage=98k. Codes are 171 and 1457. Timing belt has been replaced. Valves
have never been adjusted that I'm aware of. MPG may be down some, but I
haven't tracked it on paper over time.

Aside from the codes, the reason I ask is: your symptoms sound like
timing belt is out one tooth. Did the problem start right after the TB
was changed?
