Re: Which oil filter for 99 Accord?
Probably the Wix or the Purolator Pure One. The Purolator is a blue color
canister. I used Purolators for thousands of miles on my Honda and on
occassion just buy the "buy 3 get one free" at the Honda Dealership. That is
until they went to this microscopic thimble that they now use for most all
of their Hondas. The filter has shrunk incredibly in size and the laws of
sciene pretty much stipulate that a smaller filter is not going to filter
more and/or better than a larger one.
When I use up my Honda filters I will be switching back to the Purolator.

Fram. Not. This is reportedly a terrible filter these days, and they
also manufacture a bunch of no-name brands. The same filter, in a
different color, on the same shelf, for a buck cheaper. At K-Mart, for
example. Reportedly subject to various internal failures.
Wix. Yes. A decent filter at a slightly inflated price, at least in
my area. My experience is that it keeps the oil visibly cleaner for a
couple weeks longer than the standart Purolator filter. (Whether this
signifies anything on a microscopic wear level is uncertain.)
Honda OEM (Fram). Probably okay, but comes with a question mark due to
size and the manufacturer. Why support Fram in selling an overpriced
filter having the quality all their filters used to have?
Valvoline Max. Have never seen one of these.
Purolator pure one. Consumer reports was concerned about oil pressure
drop because it is so hard to push oil through. Hmmm... Dirty oil,
or not enough oil? I just use the standard Purolator with good
results. $4 at Pep Boys.

The Honda filters I looked at at my local dealer are made by Filtech. I
refuse to buy any oil filter that small, so I went to Wally World and got
Super Techs. They're made by Champion Labs and are supposed to be pretty
good, and at about $2 each, are certainly cheap enough.
