Apple Announces iPad 2 Here's Full Specs
The iPad 2 review. [VIDEO]
in all seriousness... the Ipad2 is just one huge departure from Ipad1 in terms of power. And being that I'm into live music as a hobby... one feature just seals the deal for me...
"This can record up to 8 tracks. Let's put that in perspective -- back when the Beatles did Sgt. Peppers, you could only do four tracks, and the machine was the size of a washing machine."

With release dates on this product so close these days i'd wait for the 3rd version.
It'll most likely have a retinal display that packs more pixels into the same screen real estate making for sharper images and the ability to cram more info on the screen.
I'd say this ipad is more of ipad 1.5 or even 1.7 more than 2.0. In car terms the new ipad is more of a facelift than a new model.

I'm not sure about the next version having a retina display like the iPhone 4's. For the iPad to meet that 330ppi mark that the iPhone touts, it'll need to have a higher resolution than an Apple 27" Cinema Display.
Then you have to consider what a website would look like on a 10" retina display. No matter the display, the web will always be 72ppi. Your browser window would either be about 4" wide, or the iPad would have to create pixels to turn the 72 ppi web into that 330 ppi. Think about taking a jpeg file and zooming in 3x.
Other apps could benefit from a higher resolution though.
My wife and I each have an iPad (mine is for work), and we will likely follow the "every other model" strategy Epileptic mentioned when we go to replace hers. There just generally isn't a giant leap forward model-to-model with Apple products.
I do wish I could have a cover like that though... Pretty slick.

iPad 3 to Get 2048x1536 Retina Display? - MacRumors Forums
I've been a Apple/Mac user since the LCII but I'm not übermac enough to contribute to that site.
The short model cycle kinda pisses me off. I had a imac G5 die on me last year. It was old but still useful. The motherboard replacement was more than a newer mac.
Handheld devices is a whole other bag though. I stick to there simplest device: ipod shuffle. It does what it does and will last me years hopefully. When there cheapest device has a 10" portable touch screen, then I might get it.

honestly i would still rather have an android tablet over the ipad, i just cant bring my self to support steve jobs, i mean no flash come on! thats on even the most basic phones in my company....i bought the dell streak 7 just to try it out and i love it, my only complaint and what the ipad has is a better screen otherwise my data speeds and processor are much much faster
