iKONAusa website idea
Well we are working on our website and we're trying to get it finished so we have only a few steps to go before we upload it all. One of the last steps is we need to figure out what to put here. We would like to either have a real neat image of one of your rides posted up, or a compalation of our products, or maybe even both. But we want to get something eye catching there. We just cant decide on what. So if anybody has any ideas please post up or PM it to us ![Big Grin](https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
This is where it needs to go
The sooner the better so help us out!

You don't exclusively make products for the Fit, do you? Assuming you make parts for other cars, I think a collage of your products would be the most appropriate. A Fit there would look nice but unless it's a Fit specific site it would be odd. You also could just throw a banner ad up there like Fit Freak.. it might help out some, I don't know how you do what you do and are profitable.

i agree with the banner idea, have a few different cars with your product installed to show the customer a variety of products for different vehicles, that would make the customer more interested in what you do with the possibility of making more business, because those customers will tell their friends who tell theirs etc.

Personally, I'd leave it blank. So many websites are overburdened with filling EVERY space that you'd look cleaner and more modern if you leave it empty. Never underestimate the power of "white" space.
(P.S. I was a design student in another life, if that adds any credibility to the opinion)

when i design websites my user 'read' usually goes: photos, company name/logo, then content. that's the order that my clients usually like to have their info organized.
IMO, negative space is most effective when it's used in the right application. for your website, the theme looks more along the lines of the raw/industrial look. dark colors, grey/silver gradients, and all the little embellishments remind me of clips/screws/hinges/vents/etc. i would build on that concept to maintain resonance throughout the user's ENTIRE experience.
i'm with the guys who've suggested a collage of products that you make for different cars. we all know you make top quality garnishes/grilles/etc. but the company name 'iKONA' [alone] wont be familiar enough with a 3rd party who hasn't had any previous experience with you. SHOVE IT DOWN THEIR THROAT, LoL! main page should showcase your best work. carefully layout and place your photos so that you've always got the user's attention. well thought out typography is your best tool - if your user gets overwhelmed with huge chunks of text they will [generally] stop reading. like this long ass post, for example.... haha!
sorry for the graphic design lecture
..... remember, these are just my opinions. design is NEVER wrong

After thinking about it. Im with who ever said a banner with things that you could say are for sale but it does look ok empty. Or you could put up a pic of a lady bent over with one of your trunk garnish pieces on her ass, and have it read back door special but when its clicked it would take you to the rear garnish parts and other Misc parts.
