Cards, anyone?

Got a call on Friday afternoon from a friend that I hadn't seen in two years for a card game on Saturday.

So I get there and tell him I want to leave around mid-night, unlike the last time, two years ago...4am.

A couple of us six players are heavy-hitters (read:fat wallets) and we all play to win.

Well, around mid-night, one guy calls acey-ducey. OK.

The rules were: Call the first ace high or low and when betting, if the card flipped over matches one of your other two cards, you have to pay double your bet.

Crap, everyone got stung by the pay double rule and the pot got to be over $160.00.

Two o'clock comes around and the heavy drinker takes a long shot on a 3-10 spread. (Remember, ALL of us had been burned, some to the tune of $80, by the double rule.)

Thank goodness, he won the pot so we could end the game and go home! No one could walk away with all that money in the pot.

He won about $100 on that one bet. Not too shabby!

We ALL thought he was going to get stung by the pay double rule AGAIN!

I left with an extra $50 in my pocket and was home by 2:30.
