Not to go all weird-o on you guys. But what cat said reminded me of a bible verse I know...

Luke 12:24-25
Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Any time I get upset over something I can find strength in this chapter.

Laid off end of October. I worked for Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin in Marin as a service advisor. Lots of people let go the end of October, but their doors are still open. Even rich people are hurtin and losing their asses for a change. Many other dealers in the area just closed the doors and said **** it and closed for good. All the motorcycle shops and car dealers are either cuttin $$ everywhere, or just closing down. Sucks donkey dick, especially since I bought the fit for the commute to save miles on my accord and RR, and money on gas.

Heh, I polled that I was feeling secure. I found out last Monday(12/22 right before x-mas) that my vacation time is being cannibalized, there goes that trip. I had most of last week off and am off until Monday. On Monday I am limited to 4 hours a day until work picks up. It's better than no job, but it still sucks. Worst bit is that the boss man tolled me two weeks ago (when I asked him face to face) that we were doing allright. If I had been laid off at least I could score some unemployment while I look for work. The resumes start going out Friday, as nobody is looking at resumes on New Years. Anyone looking for a graphic designer in the NW Suburbs of Chicago? I have 2 years in the sign industry doing car graphics, and a long resume. Check my profile.

Sorry to gripe, but I'm a bit bitter and needed to vent. Next year is going to be better!

Oh, Happy New Year everyone!

I'm past retirement age, but enjoying the job too much to leave it. Started working here August 31, 1970 - 38 years, 4 months ago.

If you're financially able, leave so a younger guy can keep his job! Sheesh. That is unless your company is one of the rare ones that isn't looking to cut heads. Then by all means, contribute and enjoy yourself!

As for me, took a buyout at Turkey Day. Looking for a new job; Mechanical Engineer willing to relocate nationally or globally. Just make sure the winters are no worse than where I'm at! ).

I work in an emergency room so unless the hospital starts to go under or unless people stop getting hurt I am ok

The big thing for next year, companies are getting rid of any benefits and holidays that they aren't legally required to maintain. I have heard from quite a few people all of their employers are doing this. I even found out my boss who had to lay me off, got demoted 2-3 times and then transferred to another dealer, and he has been there 8 years. It sucks because he is a really nice guy, its just business
