Today is the Day. :(

As of 12pm today, my appointment to put my dog to sleep has come.
All last night shes been coughing and choking. I know she hasnt got any sleep.

She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in July, the vet said 3months and she'll die. She has fluid around her heart, the fluid puts pressure around her throat and lungs. It makes her weeze and choke. Like an asthma attack.
Normally she gets little attacks here and there when she breaths hard or gets excited. Since last night she hasnt stopped. Sometimes I can calm her down and itll stop. I can reduce it somewhat but its not enough.

After today, my dog of 11yrs will be gone.

Sorry to hear about this man, but IMO you are doing the right thing. Watching an animal suffer is worse than putting it down. I've only done this to 1 dog so I know what you are going through...

Thanks guys. I would have did it Friday or Sat, but my parents were pushing away from it. My mom and dad are the ones having a hard time dealing with it.
To be honest, Ive been ready since last week to do it. The week she was diagnosed was my bad week.

I know its her time.

Ray so sorry to hear about your dog. I went through the same thing in September when I had to have my 19 year old cat Thomas put to sleep. He was not doing well and between two vets they could not recommend anything that changed his condition. When I got up that morning after a rough night with him walking the floor and crying - I knew it was time to say goodbye. In the end it is the ultimate act of love for those loving, dedicated and wonderful creatures that allowed us to share in their lives. I still get sad when I see his favorite spot for napping, or I do a task that he always seemed to want to "help" with. Know that you gave her the best life, lots of love and the comfort of a happy home.

Cat :x

Thanks a lot for the support everyone. Shes gone.

Cat; the whole ride home thats all I thought about. Seeing her special sleeping spots.
Her food and water bowl is sitting in the same spot with a little ceramic bone with her name on it.

We also have a cat. Of course shes going to know Misty is gone.
Im wondering how shes going to act.

Sorry guy The loss of a loved one is the worst loss besides losing yourself. Mourning is good, let the tears out, remember the good times you shared. Good luck man, I had a pug for 13 years of my life and he passed away of old age at home. I had just left for bootcamp so I didn't even get to say goodbye...

Ray - your cat most likely will miss your dog and look for her. When my 10 year old cat Gizmo had to be put to sleep because of kidney disease my Thomas looked through the house for a few days trying to find her. It was rough but with lots of love and attention he adapted to life without his side kick. One day I was watching some old videos of the cats playing and Gizmo was a very talkative cat and she was just meowing up a storm. Thomas was in the bedroom and came running into the living room, sit down in front of the television and watched the video of him and Gizmo on the screen -it had been 9 years and Thomas still recognized her meows.

Thanks everyone, its still a little rough for me. Im already better than I was when I got home from the vet.
Were having her cremated and then we'll probably spread the ashes in our backyard.
The backyard was her area. She was always back there chasing squirrels and birds.

I dont think our cat has noticed yet. She'll probably notice tomorrow when shes laying on the deck alone. Normally my dog lays next to her.

So sorry to hear this, I know some day down the road my wife and myself are gonna go through the same thing and I know i'm gonna be a wreak. But do your best to remember the good times. That is what is important. On another note it is really nice to see the support from other Fit members when someone is going through a hard time like this.
