I would die. But that isn't going to happen. Money is tight, I don't have a license, and my parents hate the Fit. So either a camera or a laptop.

I'm treating myself to the fuji finepix j38 for Christmas.

I've been to nyc about 5 times in the past three months and i'm sick of lugging around my s20 pro.

12.2 megapixel pocket cam for nearly $100? I don't know if that can be beaten.

So rather than lug around the s20 pro ill have the fuji j38 and my big ass Holga.

I wouldn't really call the d40x much of a step up. Yeah it has a few more MPs, but that doesn't really matter. And the d40 has a faster sync speed.
IMHO, the extra money for the d40x is not worth it. I love my d40

Charlie,
If you're going to college, get a laptop. If your gonna be in highschool a while longer, go for the camera if you want to get into photography.

Agreed. Get a nice camera, save up some cash and get yourself a decent laptop down the road. Something that can run photoshop without slowing down like mollasses.

Are you looking for a DSLR camera or a point and shoot? Whats your budget?

Also, I keep hearing talk about this omni bounce. What do you guys think about it? Its cheap so I dont have much to lose. Want to put it on my SB600.

The Sto-fen's are supposed to be good. I'm probably going to pick up one for my 580EX II.

Tupperware sounds like it would work well, and it costs about a dollar.

Edit: After taking a closer look at the fong sphere, it looks pretty nice. But i don think it is worth sixty tupperwares. haha

Anybody ever used a light scoop to get a bounce flash effect?

It's a goofy looking device.

Hehe...my next purchase is a 24-70mm 2.8 L....

I haven't decided if I will go Alien Bee or multiple hot shoes. For sure I will get a set of Cybersyncs and a stand and umbrella.

If your considering the Alien Bees, and are already set on the stand and umbrella. Why not go with this beginner kit? Im planning on getting the same one soon.

AlienBees: Illuminating the Galaxy with Professional Photographic Lighting Equipment

Comes with a B800, stand, umbrella, and a carry bag for $350. You can choose any bee you want to decrease/increase the price. The bad thing is youd need to get portable power if you want to do some outdoor shoots which is pretty expensive. Hot shoes are nice and portable.

Awesome kit. I'd go with the 1600 though. Always better to have to dial down than worry about not having enough power. It's why I got the 580EX II instead of the 430. Also Peter told me so lol.

I'm still trying to decide if I should go 24-70 or 70-200 for my glass. I would love the use of the 24-70 as a walk around and for portraits but the 70-200 would be best for wedding/event/portraits a bit more I think.
