My brother has a 30D, and I'll use that because he has baller lenses (10-20mm wide angle, 70-200L, ect) The shot of his WRX I just posted today was with my D40 and kit lens though, zoomed to 45mm.

The last shot of the WRX is really good, love your use of lighting in all your shots.

I'm still shooting in automatic mode...

No, if anything, I shot with a smaller. I think my last shot of it was f/8
On this one, I shot on f/11.
I took these on two different days, btw.
Yeah, The L always has to be red to show the baller status!!!!

Thank you :hugs:
Auto??!?!? GREEN BOX!!?!??!
If I'm not using strobes (You have to shoot in M with off camera flash without ETTL), I'll shoot in Av, so I can control depth of field/bokeh.

Well automatic on my D60. I have my SB600 that I use and it works great indoors when I aim it towards the ceiling. I'd definately love to take outdoor shots at dusk like those.

Yeah, like I said, just shoot in Av, and you can get some good shots.
Yes I love the ceiling bounce with the hotshoe, it yields awesome results.
I'm not sure if your SB600 has the power to light up a car, but if you get the right stuff, you could do nice portraits. I was shooting with my B800 at full power, and that's BRIGHT.

Also, try shooting your camera horizontal, and bouncing your flash off a white wall to take a picture of someone at dusk, I know for a fact that it works

Aperture priority mode. You choose the aperture, and it calculates the shutter speed accordingly.

nice pic, but i'm not digging the car's pose. It looks like it's leaning away from the camera.

Oh yeah, I know what you mean. So, my brother has never let anyone drive his car, even his wife. When I took pictures, I asked if he'd back it out, and drive it to his yard, and he just gave me the keys. On the inside, I was screaming "YEESSSSS!!" haha I just played it cool though. It was definitely my favorite car I've ever driven. The clutch and everything felt so smooth. I just didn't want to keep jumping back in the car and moving it, I'd feel like a douche.

so this pic is purely about lighting. I'm in my room and it's late and i didn't know what else to photograph. The room was almost entirely dark, shot at iso 400, 28" exposure at f/3.5. I used my cell phone as the lighting. I thought it looked pretty cool. only editing is cropping.

I know that feeling -- sometimes you just want to push the button. I don't know how many pics of my bookcase, computer desk, or keyboard I have, but it's too many for sure.

I spent tonight catching up on my editing. Too much stuff just sitting that needs to get done. Here's one I finished from a show about a month ago, came out pretty well.
