Oh, forgot -- picked up a Canon G10 today. Really nifty camera for a point 'n shoot. It's almost as flexible as most DSLRs, shoots RAW, and the image quality is excellent considering the small sensor. I wanted something for family stuff etc. and to keep with me wherever I go without the bulk or risk of pulling out the big guns. Best Buy knocked $50 off just by me asking if they could do better on the price; paid for the SD card right there.

^^^ looking good! I should pick up a macro lens one of these days. Speaking of macro, I got bored after editing wedding photos tonight, so shot this w/ the G10. Actually did a series w/ other cars, but haven't finished editing them yet. This is one great thing about P&S's -- you can get in stupid close.

you dont need a wireless trigger. if you are totally inexperienced, start with bouncing the flash off a wall or ceiling. srsly.

also, hell yes, going to the AMA superbike races tomorrow and sunday. hope to take some dope pictures. gonna bring my 28-300mm lens and my 50mm 1.8

Yeah, do what Matt said, just bounce it.
This is from the first night I got my flash:

And this is from a shoot I had last night (about a month of using flash photography)

Actually, you already have wireless flash capability-- the D90 does CLS and has Commander mode. You can use the pop-up to control the SB900 w/ nothing more to buy. Look in the manuals for both to see how to set it up. Once you try it, it's pretty easy and flexible too -- you can use the sb900 as your main w/ the pop-up as on-axis fill; you can use the pop-up as main and the 900 as fill; you can use only the sb900 as an off camera main, etc.

I can't figure out how to set auto iso in P, so i think i kept it at 400 most of the time.
