To find a review, just type in the name of the company and add "review" after that on Google.

I don't usually buy stuff through those websites, but I didn't even know about that reseller rating site. Now I know... and knowing is half the battle!

In fact these are all the same company owned by bestpricecameras.com

enterprisephoto.com
dynastyphoto.com
jandkcameras.com
infinitiphoto.com

And a few more I'm sure. What they do is that when one website gets really hot and people find out they are a scam site, they turn around and open a brand new one.

They try to sell things to people that already come with the factory packaged camera. They try to tell you either the camera comes with no battery at all, or the battery is a disposible one that lasts 1 hour. Then they want to sell you a new battery for $100 or more, for a battery that costs $20, but actually comes for free with the camera.

Then they sell you extended warranties, expensive bags, faster shipping and on, and on. Then they charge your card twice, almost every time, and then you have to fight the card company to get it reversed. The cameras they are selling are also foreign made knock-offs with no factory warranty.

And they have all been reported to the BBB.

I just hooked you up with some repamundo.

I just had a person get ahold of my cc # a couple of weeks ago and bought something for $800 I am pretty sure it was through a site that I bought some spray paint from. They weren't on the bbb but I chanced it anyways. I can tell you I won't do that again. I would go only through reputable sites or real store websites ie..... circuit city bestbuy bnhphoto stuff like that.

ohh don't worry I got the charge reversed and have a new card so it is all good.

Yeah I'd stay clear of deals that are too good to be true. Stick with Amazon.com, Beachcamera.com or bhphotovideo.com for good deals without compromising your credit identity.

I probably would have gotten a minolta if they hadn't decided to stop making cameras. I used to have a Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z6.

I agree with Arisen fury. But just like he stated, unlessyou print large or crop. Well, I do plenty of cropping..even with a 300mm lense. But when it comes to camera gear and what specs are the most important you will never get a clear answer because there are lots of variables. But for the MOST part, decent lenses on a XT and good practice will get you GREAT results. My friend also has a 5D like myself and L glass and his pics looks like shit (hope he doesn't read this hahaha).

So for started go and grab an XT Camera kit and for another lens withing budget grab the Canon 50mm 1.8 I'msure you will love it. If you wanna buy used I've been thinking of selling my Canon XTi complete kit (w/lens) for $550
Whatever you decide, don't get a 40D or up cause it's expensive and you might decide this to be an expensive hobby and pull out. Believe me, photography as a hobby can be PRICEY and if you as any photographer Pro or Noob they will agree.

Photography is a very very very expensive hobby probably more expensive then cars at times......

if you want a really nice lens you can pay as low as $600 or as high as $3k or higher. that is just for glass.

Well put! I also have to spread more reputation before giving to you as well. For now I'll just give you this: .

Just to add to this -- some decent photo forums to check out:

Forums: Digital Photography Review

The Imaging Resource Forums - Welcome

Right now, I shoot w/ a Canon 40D w/ the kit 17-85 IS lens. I used to have an XTi, but it just never really clicked with me, so I traded up to the 40D and couldn't be happier. For a beginner though, the XTi is more than good as are any of the other cameras the others recommended. One suggestion though -- if you do go w/ an XT/XTi, skip the 18-55 EF-S lens that comes with the kits and get the 18-55 IS EF-S, which is the kit lens w/ the XSi. It's only about $200, but is optically superior in just about every way to the non-IS version, plus adds image stabilization (IS), which is a God-send in low-light situations or when handholding at longer focal lengths.

Theres been some good advice in this thread BUT dont listen to that nut Ken rockwell . Frankly he is considered to be a joke in most photo forums. The guy did a review of a camera without ever having an actual camera he was reviewing. Dont take his advice. He counterdicts himself often.

Both nikon and Canon make some very nice cameras. Keep in mind Nikons D40/D40X can only use AF-S or AF-I lenses which are lenses from nikon that have a focus motor inside the lens itself. Nikon also sells whats called screw lenses were the focus is driven buy a mechanical link from the camera itself, those dont work in the low end D40.

All canon lenses have the focus motor inside the lens itself.

As for what i own i have all canon .
1DSMKII,, 1DMKII,, Rebel XT, lenses for me go from 17mm to 800mm. Biggest being a Sigma 300-800 EX 5.6 zoom. Also known as a Sigmonster. Some picture of mine here
Dan Clune.'s Photo Galleries at pbase.com

You can pick up a used Rebel XT for about $300, decent 8 meg camera. Go to the buy/sell forum.
