Macro lenses are awsome.
If you can get enough light and get someone to hold still long enough get a macro shot of someone eye it is pretty awesome.
sorry for uber small image it is either that or reallly big images because of the site they are hosted on.

Here's a couple from last monday
with a Sony 50mm f/1.4, shot indoors with low light through glass
and these are with the Sony 18-200 lens with a cheap polarizing filter... which I figured out after the fact tends to cut corners

typically all summer long its pictures of cars or car reltated events. once the cars go away I need to find other things to practice on lol.
And sorry I missed your comment, not we didn't get the snow, just a very light dusting that was gone before noon.

If you guys want something to practice over the winter, may want to check this out: Strobist Check into the Lighting 101 and 102 archives. This guy has a HUGE following and basically he'll teach you how to use off-camera flash on the cheap and easy. You'll be amazed at what you can light w/o a lot of expensive gear, and his teaching style is real down-to-earth and low BS. He also has an 8 DVD set of one of his lighting seminars, which if you hunt you can find .avi's of it, but after watching it I'm gonna plop down the cash to buy it outright, it's that useful (plus he's a cool guy that deserves getting the cash). Anyway, if you want to make your pics better w/o having to drop major cash on new gear, this is probably the most useful thing I think I've come across.
