how many prime lenses do you have? I've been looking at them more and more lately but I don't know what length I should go with. I haven't had any prime lenses at this point.

for me I don't one yet!!!! but I use Canon 35mm f/1.4L, Canon 50mm f/1.4, Canon 100mm marco f/2.8, Canon 85mm f/1.2L, canon and sigma and tokina 15mm fish eye. Primes are great lens, when I shot in film I use my 50mm almost all the time b/c it was great lens to use in day and low light shot by opening the aperture to f/1.2 and all round for a 35mm or FF but on crop body (Sony I think 1.6x crop) it stll great but it dosen't give you the full 50 effect. if you really want a prime lens go with a 35mm or even 15mm fish eye..

Got myself a D40 a week ago.
I'm new to the DSLR world so there's a lot for me to learn.
And I'm so ready for San Diego to try it out.

While, I admit megapixel isn't everything, try saying it doesn't matter when you can't enlarge your photos to hang on the wall...

I printed out many pictures from my old D40 at 8x10 with no loss in quality. I've got 12 now with my D90 and I barely use them.

I did a 20 x 30 with my d40 and you only notice the graining within 2 feet. It's perfectly fine on my wall.
