My new Daily Driver

I bought a Gary Fisher Utopia dual sport bike. For those who don't know much about bikes its a mountain bike frame with flat handlebars and disc brakes, but with 700c road wheels and 28c road tires and a more city based 27 speed gear set.

This has less to do with gas prices, more to do with I am fat.

Glad you showed your bike, it's pretty nice... hope you get alot of enjoyment from it.
I've been neglecting my bike more than I should...
Here's what mind looked like before I changed a few components... (hayes disc brakes, seat, handle bars, grips, cross country tires....

Nice bike man. I still have my old school Trek 9000 hard tail from when I raced x-country. I need to drop another 20lbs I am thinking before I break her back out for a ride. So my solution is grinding it out in the gym 5-6 days a week for an hour.

I bought my wife a specialized hard rock mt bike. It's a hard tail w/ mechanical brakes (as mine are hydraulic). My son (14 wants her bike soooo bad... esp. since she rarely rides it) but it's hard to give a $600+ bike to a 14 year old!

fixed gear or nothign!!

btw, you should invest in some pedals and shoes.

standard pedals are only 25% efficient

Nice fixed gear!
My skillz aren't up to par for that.... I like the quick dismount (esp. when on trails) that platform pedals offer.... plus I never learned to use clip less...

dude, if you EVER get the chance, try it. i LOVE my eggbeaters. i wouldn't ever go back to cages/strap/flat pedals again. you have power on the down stroke and upstroke.

How trail-worthy are egg-beaters? If they work good on single track & semi-technical rides... then maybe I'll buy a set some day & ride on the grass for an hour so that I'll get used to it w/o the road rash & scrapes!

So your bike doesn't have any brakes... right?

I had a bike just like that for a long time. I got so good at wheelies with it, i could wheelie for as long as a street went, no joke haha. Then i got into MT bikes since my friend who i rode with had badass MT bike trails with jumps in his backyard pretty much. We would always hit them up, it was good times. Now that i drive and work and race MX i dont really ride bikes anymore This thread makes me want to though!

Back in my early years, like 7yrs old i raced BMX for years. Travelled around cali and i have over 30 trophys in my room from BMX. It was good times no doubt!

Airborne, Good for you!!

I'd love to ride but Tampa's a horrible place for bikers and pedestrians. Lot's of hit and runs.......
