So this is Chancleta!
For all of the Spanish speakers out there, yes, I know! It is a nutty name. But, when we got him, I said, "I will be tossing chancleta's at him all day." so my kids thought that would be a nice name to call the dog! Wonderful!
Anyway, I am bored and figured I would post about Chancleta. He is a 6 month old rat terrier with all of his little papers. The wife got him for free from her boss who had a litter from his male and female. The dog was a surprise to me. I was out of town for business and we were online chatting with video and my daughter holds up this tiny looking guinea pic thing! I freak out. When I got back I thought he was cute. I am NOW the only one who plays with him or any of that so he is basically MY dog. But i love animals so no worries.
Anyway, about a month ago, my wife calls me frantic, again, while I am 3 hours away for business. The dog had been hit by a car. The SPCA picked the dog up because someone THANKFULLY called them and they called us from the tag. My wife said he looked horrible. It was still another 5 days before I would be home. While no one plays with the dog much, my 23 month old daughter loves him and pets him. The kids would still be hurt if he died. So I called our vet and said "Doc, fix him". I didn't know how much that meant. I told him I would pay him when I got in town and he said no problem. After $1000, Chanc recovered fine. He had pulmonary adema (Lungs full of blood), a chipped vertebrae around his neck area, and a dislocated shoulder. The clavicle still sticks out a bit but the doc said the tendons have pulled it back into place and he may have a little lump.
This picture is from 3 days ago. From the trauma of the car hit, he developed a cyst. I was supposed to ice it for 15 mins.day but he is so hyper I would have to put him in the freezer to do that. So a couple of weeks went by and the cyst grew to the size of a golfball. Well, he is now cyst free and this is the aftermath. A big goofy cone that he has to wear for the next 7 days and 25 staples! He is still hyper as well but still goofy and he is doing really well since the surgery.
So, for anyone who read my entire boredom induced post about my dog, thanks. And welcome him to the Fit community as he regularly sits at my feet while I post or takes a stroll in the Fit with me.
And yes there is tile missing there. we just redid our kitchen!

it means flip flop...like a sandal! I'm white boy but wife is Latin so she and the kids speak Spanish. It is a funny name when the vet has the dog come in.
