i test drove an AT, put a deposit down on a BOM 5-speed sport, the dealer spent a day looking for it and I will have it later this week... about a 2 week wait.

I went for a test drive this past Saturday (11/18/06) and drove home a milano red Fit. I got the base model because they didnt have a sport and to add on the body kit and wheels would have been outrageously costly. So I got the car for $15,500 before warranty upgrades. I got out the door for just over $18,000 with no money down. The only option I added was the all-season floor mats. I love my new Fit!!! It drives great, has a wonderful sound system, and it has a big car feel.

Sorry to make a comment that may spoil your excitement, but your OTD price of a base Fit was $18,000? I got my Sport AT for an OTD price of $17,700. Sure, there are regional differences (tax, etc.), but your cost still sounds like a rip-off to me. Did you have to pay a premium to get the car?

We paid $18k the Sport with A/T. In New York we have some High taxes and fees here so I feel like we did alright. $18,000 for a base does seem a bit high.

I noticed that too, since I bought my Sport A/T for 18K out the door. He did mention something about "warranty upgrades". Maybe he bought an extended warranty.

Hopefully that's it....

Oh I see. That makes better sense. Thanks.

Sorry to be nosy again - maybe you want to drop the extended warranty. On a Honda, an extended warranty is almost always a waste. We have owned two Hondas in the past, and not a darn thing went wrong with either of them in years of ownership. You should be able to cancel your extended warranty within so many days (check the contract) if that's what you would like to do (strongly recommended).

It looks pretty obvious that Honda underestimated how well it would be accepted in the U.S. and Canada. So they simply aren't making enough of them to meet the demand.

As for it being more available next year. It's anyones guess but I would think that Honda would step up production and maybe even create more plants to manufacture it. Some people will give up on getting one due to the wait which will decrease demand as well. Only time will tell for sure.

Cool, another one hits the road. Glad to hear it. That was a long wait, you're more patient than I am, I'd be even more nuts by now.

I'm from Zanesville, and I only had to wait about two weeks for mine. Bought it early last August from the local dealership. I showed this dealership some devine $$$$, they then got on their computer and found one in W.Va, and had it here in no time !! Mine is a silver Sport & I just love it !!

The FIT was waiting for me, I looked all around Houston and there was only two left at the same dealer. The cars were sitting there for a week (weird). When I saw the white sport auto, I was in love. We went on a speedy test drive around curves, and boy this little baby can handle. OTD was 16800, tinting inlcuded and nothing down.

I waited a little less than a month for my SSM AT at Scholfield Honda in Wichita, KS. I submitted a request for a Quick Quote on their website at the beginning of November and was informed that they had one coming in by the end of the month. I immediately plunked down a credit card deposit. I picked up my car today.

I have been waiting since early Aug for my 5 sp SSM Fit Sport and it's almost here (I think)! It is supposed to arrive between the 30th and the 5th, and it's the 30th now so I'm waiting by the phone. Last I heard the car was in Wisconson. That was on Nov. 24th. Any day now...

I called the dealership ~2 weeks ago and got a VIN for my Sport Man (waiting since end of May ). It was sitting on a lot in Japan waiting to be shipped out - they couldn't say when it would get here since they didn't know when the next physical shipment went out. Hopefully mines on the same boat that yours was on. I'm hoping in the next week or so......

My vivid blue sport auto arrived at the dealership today after waiting for two weeks for it. It was originally ordered for someone else but she noticed a white one and decided that she wanted white and will be getting it in Feb, so I guess that I got lucky.
