Huntington Honda , New York = Bad
Went into Huntington Honda 10 days ago in New York
spoke with Salesman John R, we agreed to MSRP...since I knew no dealers were selling for less. The salesman was nice and courteous...so I felt good about giving my money to this dealer.
I knew MSRP was 15,720 for a Fit sport manual trans
he convinced me otherwise my mistake...so he charged me $15,970
then he told me about a $250 advertising fee that every car gets, that he has to charge me....what do i know...this is my first new car...so I reluctantly agreed and left a $500 deposit
so couple days later I talked to someone local who purchased a Fit also
guess what...that $250 fee is bogus, and I wasn't wrong about the MSRP of the car
so now, im upset that I agreed to pay some $500 more than I should be
so today I went back to the dealer, I wanted to get my price corrected ...at this point I would have been happy if they just adjusted the price to true MSRP
unfortunately John was not in, so I spoke with a sales manger Kevin
he's trying to convince me that they are getting $1,000 over MSRP and that I got a good deal.....well....I'm wiser now, and not going to fall for that old trick
I gave him an ultimatum, MSRP or give me my money back
he said fine ,you'll get your deposit back
but of course I forgot my receipt, so i had to drive some 40min each way back home to get the receipt
now that I think back, I'm glad they didn't adjust the price to MSRP
I don't want my money going to a dealer that is going to lie to my face.

I had a *decent* experience with Huntington. I dealt with Tariq. We took the white auto Fit out for a test drive, and Tariq was very courteous and polite. He honestly informed me that he couldn't even really estimate how long it would be before a MT Sport would be available, but I left my contact info just in case. Well, he called me a couple of days later to tell me a Blaze Orange MT Sport was coming in the following week, and I could have it for "five-thousand" dollars over MSRP. I'm convinced he misspoke and meant "five-hundred" dollars. Anyway, I already had my deposit down at PS Honda, so I politely declined and he didn't push further.

yes it is, if that was what we verbally agreed upon
but since we agreed on MSRP and he overcharged me for the car, and gave me a bogus fee.......that unreasonable

$15,970 is MSRP for a Sport Automatic. $15,720 is MSRP+destination for a Sport Manual. It might have been an honest mistake on the salesman's part, but they shouldn't be throwing out numbers if they aren't sure, and the $250 "required" markup is COMPLETE BS.
Good to see you went elsewhere!
